You'll only be able to invest £5640 in a cash ISA. If you want to invest £11k in an ISA, you could consider putting half of it in a cash ISA, the rest in a stocks + shares ISA. The stocks + shares ISA is investing though - a different kettle of fish than cash. Otherwise, you could put the rest in a simple cash account, but the interest won't be tax-free.

Inflation is currently 2.8% - the best cash ISA is 2.5% I think (average is 1.8%), so you're still losing money in real terms. The FTSE is up 15%+ in the past 12 months. I'm not trying to convince you to invest, because it really is different to cash, you need to understand the risks etc., but at the moment you won't beat inflation with a cash ISA.

Nottingham BS are offering a 1 year, fixed monthly regular saving ISA at 4%. You can only put 1/12th of the allowance in each month, but you could drip feed it from a non-ISA savings account every month

This is a branch only application however last year some managed to open by post. One poster here has emailed them and they have said no postal apps however I am in the process of testing it!

    Cheers

Question here (for any future goodies NBS offer) - did you send the application to your nearest branch or head office? i.e. a 50p stamp will be cheaper to me than the petrol to my local branch some 15 miles away.

    Cheers in adavance

I posted to the Office listed on their web site. I also followed their rules as to who you make cheque to. They have been very efficient.

    Very pleased.

Thanks Alan - I see from another thread that someone also posted to their branch. Both of you being successful.

    One for the future that.

    Cheers again.
