solicitor wants certified ID with strict conditions...

    Yep, when we bought we used a local guy and the vendor used a cheap-as-chips online outfit.

    Cue endless delays and some bad feelings because the online outfit were incompetent. Then after 2 months of this, the online place got but out of business by the law society and the vendors had to engage a local guy anyway!

    I used a conveyancer appointed by Nationwide who are my mortgage lender. I was advised on here against doing this and hiring a local solicitor instead but i'd already agreed for the Nationwide to appoint me one. I realise I've made the wrong decision now but I don't want to risk delaying the sale by switching solicitors now.

    I am a first time buyer so I am learning all the time!

    I went to a local solicitor today, in my lunch break at work, and they only charged £20 to certify my ID. I'm glad it's done now!
