isa help please!

Hi

I have transferred an existing isa with halifax to santander it is in the process of moving got a text from halifax today. I didn't pay into it last year so no payments have been made in 2012/2013 apart from an interest payment halifax put in in July.

The santander new isa is up and running on my internet banking although the transfer isn't showing yet.

My question is can I pay in last years £5640 into account before deadline or does the transfer count towards it. Sorry if it's a stupid question I think I can but don't want to do it incase its wrong.

Thanks

Transfers do not count towards your yearly allowance.

So yes, you can put this years allowance in.

If you haven't paid any money into any ISA in tax year 2012/13 you can put it in your Santander ISA now - do it on or before Friday! The transfer (if done properly of course) counts as the allowance for the year it was originally deposited.
