    Spoke to Consumer Hotline and they said that as it's a pre-order and they've given us the option to cancel they have done nothing wrong and have worked within the law. "Even though they've taken the money in contract law acceptance does not necessarily take place until the item has been despatched." It's a bit sneaky but can't really complain when even after the £25 increase it's cheaper than the nearest competitor.
  • Have any of you preorderers had it confirmed yet which courier will be delivering the phone and whether there's any chance it might be here on Saturday? My order say Ups/city link but I'd rather it be royal mail as other couriers tend to not find my house (or just not bother!)

    Bit late in the day but I've decided to cancel my pre-order now. Going to go with 3 and get it on The One Plan which works out significantly cheaper than buying the phone outright and getting that on sim only.

    The conversations I was having with someone by email yesterday said they would 'do their best' to get the phone to people on Saturday via Royal Mail Special Delivery, which is guaranteed to get there before 1pm.

    "Do my best" in the callcentre world means "Look, I'll do absolutely nothing and the second I put the phone down to you I'll forget about you, but if you query why you don't get it I'll say I did my best but couldn't manage it, and there is the outside chance you might get it, but that won't be anything to do with me if you do".

    Thanks for everyone's input. I decided to still go ahead as it is still the cheapest around, but I still think that it is poor customer service to charge twice for the phone.

    So the sim-free version is different from the non-sim-free version? Sounds like sim-free punters go straight to the back of the Q. Expect another delay, and another ...
  • It seems like it is, although I think the networks are experiencing delays as well. Either way I've cancelled now and will probably hold off for a few months until hopefully the price will have gone down a bit.
