Business class from UK to Sydney

Ah yes - I only looked at the OP where they suggested later this year.
Jan does come up a bit more expensive - about £3500 per person, you question if the hassle is worth it.
To explain the routing (as the OP asked by PM).
Book a ticket AMS-SYD on BA which will route you through London. You then buy a cheap return EDI-AMS (ie a bargain £30 easyjet or flybe fare). Start in EDI, then pick up BA in AMS. Usually saves a packet if you are flying long haul on a premium ticket.
Beware, that if for any reason you miss the BA flight starting in AMS you are on a complete loser. Give yourself enough time, or enjoy a nice overnight in AMS before your BA flight.
Very similar to what I posted above, I am looking at ex-Milan to Vegas in the summer routing through Heathrow. On the way back it changes LHR - LGW which means I will just head home from there.
It really can save lots of money. Check out the main European airports - Milan, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Barcelona etc....

With the greatest respect my friend you know nothing about me nor the circumstances behind my decision making. I do not need guidance re "normal economy" from yourself as if I had I would have asked for advice on that topic. I am new on here and treat others with respect and appreciate the very helpful info and advice I have received from many others. I would be very grateful if you could refrain from posting your thoughts on MY life choices when all I am asking for is advice/tips for a once in a lifetime holiday to see a brother I have not seen for decades.
I am not your friend, and did not intend to offer guidance, but simply wondered if you've really thought it through as many people ask questions on forums* where they clearly haven't. I did see the 'once in a lifetime' bit the first time, and couldn't help thinking that it could be more than once in a lifetime. Still, have a great visit.

Ok then how about a simple request from me to you. Please do not post on any thread I may put up as unlike every other poster on this thread your thoughts and opinions are not welcome.
Thank you0 -
Have you considered premium economy as a half-way house?
You have a number of carrier options, and will get far cheaper tickets.
Picking Qantas for example allows seat selection at time of booking, and their A380s have exit row seats together at the back with unlimited legroom - not proper business class, but not far off some sloped seats offered by some.
Also get better food, and more luggage compared to economy.Legal team on standby0 -

Try Finnair. Via Helsinki and then they'll connect you on to BA/Cathay/Qantas at Singapore / Bangkok / Hong Kong. Looks about £2800 ea.
Nothing from Scotland but they do fly from Manchester.
I'd definitely try a couple of travel agents - Flight Centre and Trailfinders sometimes have some business class fares you can't get online0 -
If you join BA's executive club then a long haul flight is usually enough to get you a (nearly) free European flight after you return (the points don't get credited until after the long haul flight)
With it being Australia maybe more than one flight0 -

15,888 avios per person each way, so 4 to 6 european flights in total!0 -

Not only that but a return in business to Australia will get you close to a Silver card as would would get 240 tier points each way and you need 600 TP in a year to get the shiny card. If you were creative in your routing you could get there in one trip.0 -

Thanks for the tip. Those are really good priced fares and whilst the business class on Finnair doesn't look as good as some other airlines it still looks pretty good and as you say connects on to BA. Just going to check them out for some US flights I want this summer.
