Slow Vendor

Hello all,

We are FTB and had our bid accepted on the 3rd March, we have completed our surveys, mortage offer is in and no problems with the HBR.

We rang our solicitor to see how we are progessing and over a month later, the sellers solicitor has received nothing from them to send to our solicitor so our solicitor has not started any searches as yet.

We have rang the EA to ask them, they said they will ask the seller (this was before weekend, but obviously has been Easter).

The seller is going to be renting after selling, so there is no selling chain involved as such.

We're a bit miffed about them taking so long but we don't want to start issuing ultimatums, but we're fuming about it.

What you all do?
Chase the EA?
Call the sellers solicitor?

Can we ask for a timescale for them to stick to?

Cheers

Couple of things do you think your vendor is now planning to buy rather than move into a rental property? Is it possible they have been away for Easter as I know a lot of people who weren't at home. Not sure where you are but I have been having issues with my post as we have had snow and ice constantly for weeks so often I didn't receive post for days.

Good luck and I know it's frustrating but fingers crossed it will start moving soon.

The message you need to give the estate agent is that you still want to proceed with the sale however you don't feel that the vendor is commited and you would like some visble progress soon.

Whilst on the same phone call ask them about one of the other houses they have on the books (not booking a viewing) in the area you are looking at.

I don't think she will be buying, she is selling the home due to a divorce from a few years ago and her ex-husband wanting half of the money from the house.

It is frustrating. We made it clear we wanted to move before June, but we've not even had a hint of an expected contract/completion date since then.

I've managed to find the seller on facebook, she's not been away anywhere.
She has had 4 weeks prior to us ringing the estate agents though, I'm not confident of her doing anything in a rush.

Sorry to say but there's the problem everything will need signing twice and if he is anything like my ex he could be delaying it. Good luck.

From what she said, he is the one wanting to sell for the cash.
So hopefully that won't be the case.

Hm, I would never have even thought of checking my seller on facebook.....

    I wonder :rotfl:

Phone your EA again and explain that your frustrated at the apparent lack of progress from the vendor and ask them find out what the hold up is with the vendors solicitor sending the contract pack out.

Hence giving her no incentive whatsoever to hurry things along. She may drag her feet just to spite him, or to prolong her free home, if he's paying the mortgage.

Estate agent has told us there was a mix up between seller & their solicitor, both were waiting for each other to make more contact :/

This was Wednesday, and we rang our solicitors again today.
    Still nothing.
    ARRGGGGHHHH!
