Equal Pay for NIO staff

It cost DFP to defend this case, so if they got legal advice, and they knew they were right, why did they spend £185,000 of taxpayers money to defend it. They didn't need to defend it, if they were sure we were not entitled to it. NIPSA have something up their sleeve as they are meeting with the assembly and dfp on Wednesday, I wouldn't hold my breath though....0

I have explained the ins and outs, and this case goes back 30 years, before I worked in the public service. It was not my choice to join the NICS, as I was used to working in the private sector, but the work dried up, so please think again, when you give off about the public services, think about the paramedics, nurses, all govt offices that deserve to have equal pay, according to the law. Women in two grades get paid less than men in the same job, so if you disagree with this, go to the Equality Commission, and see what they say. I think they would give all of you a very short answer!!!! Some of my colleagues had to get a rise in pay to bring them up to the minimum wage, and a lot of them are claiming benefits to put food on the table. As I have said before, it is not a race to see how the govt can pay the private sector less, its about making greedy bankers etc, and private sector bosses bonuses, whilst their staff get paid buttons. If you don't understand this, you do not agree with equality in the workplace. It is not all about the money.
What a lot of crap - why didn't the EC support you then? What about men in the same grade getting paid less than women - are such anonalies never allowed or a fact of life - what about private sector workers paying out 4 or 5 k in tax, bringing them under the net earnings level of a public sector worker performing a lesser role (filing, box ticking, opening envelopes, all commanding up to 25k a year now in the nics) to cover the public sector wage bill?
Since when did paramedics and nurses not get equal pay - equal with whom, pray, Richard Branson?
Are you honestly stating that civil servants are being paid less than the minimum wage, or have been, since you joined? The present starting scale for an AA at the bottom is, I believe, 16.5k per annum - the minimum wage works out at under 10k I believe, NIPSA maths class was it?
How does the government pay the private sector, and do you know the difference? And how does an employee in the nics filling in forms all day deserve to be paid the same as a stock broker or company owner?
Can we not put you on a rocket for North Korea where your views have wider credence?0 -
You do not know what you are talking about, and you don't seem to like anyone getting paid for doing anything. I do not want to get into any arguments with anyone, as you and your followers seem to be very threatening in your language.
And I for one, do not just tick boxes all day, if I was in the private sector, or even in the police, I would be getting an awful lot more.
An AA when I joined was getting under £10000 in 2002, so you need to look into your maths. You also seem to hate NIPSA for some reason, who do you think fought for your flexi time etc, management certainly would lower our wages and have us tied to our desks.
But I suppose you are a NICS, and some don't really think very clearly.0 -
Holy God - the figures I quoted were for this year, and 2006 - not 2002, so back to the drawing board with your crayons. Can you also tell me what the minimum wage was in '02 - lower than 10k was it - back to your crayons again.
NIPSA fought for nothing that I value - I didn't ask for flexi time, it was given as part of a package and abused all to hell by all grades of staff. FYI, most of management are in NIPSA, including huge swathes of the senior civil service - they appear to do quite well working the system from both angles with affinities attached to whomever they think will get them more cash at any time (in other words the total opposite of what a civil servant should be A SERVANT TO SOCIETY AND THE STATE, NOT A SELF-SERVING, TRADES-UNIONISED, GRIEVANCE-PEDDLING WORK SHY MONEY-GRABBER).0
