Equal Pay for NIO staff

I will repeat for clarity, NIO are NOT part of NICS. Please do your homework properly before coming on here saying people are wrong because they disagree with you. NIO are part of the "Home" civil service, as are Inland Revenue staff.
My sister is NIO, I am NICS, so I do know what I am talking about. Our terms and conditions are similar but not the same.
When you moved to NIO you should have read properly what you signed up to. If you had you would know why their case failed in the courts.0 -
that is the point, I did not sign anything, and in fact Judge Babington High court judge, said he was very surprised that no civil servant actually has a contract. I have never worked in any other place, where I did not read very carefully before I signed. The facts are there, there are flaws in all the arguments, and I am a NICS, have no contract, and never signed up to the Home Civil Service. ANyway, the people that stayed with the NIO when devolution happened, had to be TUPE over, and sign new contracts.... I know what I am talking about along with several hundred other NICS, who had been in the NIO at some time during their working in the NICS, and they too, say they were never told that t & c were any different. And if I am so wrong, why did the Committee for Finance and Personnel tell the minister to pay this money out last June. See for yourself on the Assembly website, they released a press statement. This is next up in front of the committee on April 10th for answers, and why would they want to talk about it, if they were abiding by the courts. Your sister probably joined the NIO, as you can join the Home Civil Service, but we never did.0

The Civil Service Handbook of Terms and Conditions is my contract.
Did you read the terms and conditions of TUPE?
MLA's say all sorts of things which mean absolutely nothing - listen to the news any night to verify that. It is the Minister's decision and he will abide by the court's decision.
And I think you will find, in law, that you did join NIO when you accepted TUPE.0 -
This is from FAQ's relating to the settlement.
1.6. Are NIO staff included in the settlement?
Following the delegation of pay and grading, the NIO has separate pay and grading arrangements and do not fall within the remit of devolved administration.
NIPSA has indicated that it wishes to discuss this matter with the NIO.
Further information will issue to staff in due course
1.7. Are directly employed staff in non-NICS bodies (including NIO and NDPBs) included in the settlement?
No, staff who are directly employed by non-NICS bodies are not included in this proposal as their pay negotiation is not the responsibility of the NICS.0 -
I wasn't TUPE over, the staff that were not in the devolved depts, had to join the Home Civil Service. The executive is going to overturn the John Lewis decision made by Alex Attwood, on the advice of the Attorney General. Why were the police not allowed to change the pension conditions of the civil service staff that worked for them? DFP said they were NICS, so they couldn't change them. This case could go for appeal, and sure the assembly do what they want? You must understand that some of us have lost out on a great deal of money, and are not equal to our NICS colleagues, which was a decision made for us, not by us. The whole thing is a shambles, and they can't even get the grading right, and there are too many civil servants sitting around doing nothing, whilst others are overworked, and they all get the same wage.My sister got £14000, and some of her colleagues who had spent some of their service in the NIO got nothing for those years, yet they are reckonable service for pension purposes, and if any of the NIO staff get dismissed, it is DFP that do the dismissal. There are too many holes in DFP's argument, which the judge did not take into consideration.0

You know what? Try working in the private sector.0

Should be bl00dy greatful you have a job. There's probably 1000's out there who would happily step into your job at the moment without a bat of an eyelid so Stop moaning!!0

I have worked in the private sector, and lost my job twice, I had to live on benefits, and you should not judge people who have jobs, it is not their fault, so it is the people who are not working, and won't work that are the problem.0

Thats not what he said or implied. There are loads of people who would love a full time permanent job but cant get one.
If you're unhappy with your current job, get another job. I cant see you making any progress with your issue, and theres nothing any of us on here can do.0
