Small Claims Court help needed

I have had major problems with a utility company. I tried to resolve matters by writing to them in the hope the matter would be resolved amicably. They weren't interested even when I threatened court action. Incidentally, I felt I had a strong case as I had letters /emails from sub contractors admitting their mistakes.
I decided that the courts were the only way to resolve this matter so I sent off the necessary forms and fee.
Not being legally trained, and having always heard that the small claims route was oh so simple I blundered on in!
I did not realise that claims under £5,000 (but now £10,000) were dealt with as small claims but amounts over that are treated differently. My claim was for £9,000.
The utility company have employed an aggressive and intimidating firm of solicitors who wish to hang me out to dry. I have spoken to a solicitor who feels it might be too expensive to proceed.
I have to return the allocation questionnaire very soon and wondered if anyone had any advice to offer me? Would the court accept this on the small claims route if I asked in the questionnaire?

you need to be going towards the subcontractors if they are negligentDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
