i am useless with numbers too, sw going fine, like my chocolate too much - i love all the free food, but get to evening and i start on the treats. Trying to excercise a bit more to see if that helps shift it on a bit faster.
My masters is in healthcare, my employer was funding it, but i have changed jobs and my new bosses are not interested. Found it quite a hard slog, and have been studying almost every year for various things. I like studying and being organised, but think i will defer for another year - got heaps to do once we move into new home.
Enjoy the massage - i qualified as a massage therapist and was very popular when i needed a few case studies to practise on - most folk love a massage. (and a free one is better)mortgage 1 33,000. paid nov 2012

Massage was lush! Not really much to update. Tomorrow is pay day!
I'm quite looking forward to moving some money around and updating my signature.
Due to Slimming World I had to spend a fair amount of money on fresh fruit and veg which is great for my health but not so much for my bank balance! Oh well! Health is more important I suppose!
Will update tomorrow when I've got some money moving! Saving to sort the house fund! 10000/20000

Woohoo! Just got a text from my Dad saying I could keep the £90 that we got when OH and I scrapped the copper pipes from his old boiler. OH helped put the new one in so I'm quite pleased that he let us keep the money. Also got £20 yesterday from family members to buy something for the house so both those monies will go into saving towards the architect and house!
A good pre-payday pay! Saving to sort the house fund! 10000/20000

Pay Day! :j
So been moving some money around. This is just on my pay and what we saved last month without taking into account Mr ff's pay which comes in in a couple of days. I'm really pleased so here is my money movements this month so far:
£400 to family loan pot
£100.92 in architect saving pot
£250 in emergency fund
£100 in PhD fund
£200 mortgage OP
£93.46 paid off Credit Card
Really pleased with this amount. Will update sig in a mo. I've still got £2800 in current accounts and without Mr ff's pay I feel quite confident about this month and I'm hoping that once he has been paid I'll be able to move around some more money. I also haven't paid in the scrap money yet or the £20 as I didn't finish work until after the banks had shut yesterday.
Very pleased :j and also very pleased that I can finally say that we've started! This is the first time since I've had this diary that I can say I've done it properly!

So Mr FF's payday came!
That's an extra £1800 - he seems to have got lots of extras this month with being on call etc. so that is great. I haven't moved it at all for the moment as this is our first proper month of paying bills in the new house so I want to make super sure that I've got everything that I need to cover everything. The big mortgage payment will come out soon and should leave £1600 for bills (way more than we spend but wanted to be safe) and there's another £1000 in a different current account, just in case.
I just need to wait now until I know all of the direct debits have come out of the account and then I can start to see what's left over and where it needs to go to make maximum use of it. Saving to sort the house fund! 10000/20000

Feeling quite proud! I've had 4 NSD's in a row! :j Have a fairly expensive day tomorrow as I need to do the weekly food shop which may be hefty as I've emptied the freezer and now need to top it up ready for a bbq
. Also need to get a fair few tools and DIY bits so that we can start doing some things to the lovely new house. Also need some new stationery for the doctorate course that I seem to have enrolled on
All new courses need new stationery! That's how you pass the course - quality stationery!

First mega mortgage payment has left the account  It was painfully huge but is has reduced the mortgage to £203594.00
Still a :eek: amount but at least it's decreasing. The interest will take effect and it'll start to go up again but I'm hoping that I can make a reasonable OP towards the end of the month that will help to bring the capital down. What I'd really like to do is to be able to pay off the interest every month in OP's so that the mortgage payments themselves will always be capital payments.
Other than that there isn't much to report. Had a lovely weekend pottering about the new house and doing a few bits to it that didn't cost much money. I did go food shopping £70 (not too bad really) and got some very small things for Mr ff in his man cave! :rotfl: It kept him occupied for 2 hours and meant I got a load of reading done for the doctorate AND my ironing!
Money well spent I say!
Hope everyone else also had a lovely weekend.

Sounds great. Thanks.feelingfestive wrote: »I make my own and it's really potent.
2-3 tsp neem oil
2-3 tsp citronella
2tbsp vinegar
1/2 pint tea brewed with 8 strong tea bags
2 crushed garlic cloves
Make up to 2 litres with water.
It stinks to high heaven but the midges and horseflies hate it! On really bad days I just stick in extra garlic.0 -
No worries

Been looking at the OP Calculator and if we OP by £500 per month then the mortgage will be paid off in 15 years instead of 29! That is amazing! :j So the plan from this month is to OP by £500 per month minimum. We are lucky in that we have 2 mortgages as we ported our old one across so if we have any spare after the £500 OP then we can put that into the other mortgage as there's a £500 limit each month. On another up note, the fixed term of one mortgage will come to an end in November at which point there is no limit so we aim to pay as much off of that as possible.
There will be building work and babies in between so I know that we won't be done in 15 years but it's still great to see how far we can get. I'd love to be MF by 45 which is 19 years away from now so hopefully it'll be gone by then!

Feeling pretty pants today really. I'm pretty run down and exhausted at the moment and we have a trip to France with 50 year 10's for the whole of next week. The trip is awesome but is definitely not a time for sleep! The following week is the summer school for the Doctorate of Education that I've taken on and 2 nights out for colleagues who are leaving school. I had prom last night as well as WW2 Veterans Day where we had a medical emergency which was very stressful. I feel like I can't get on top of my eating so I'm still staying the same weight or putting it on and I feel a bit like it doesn't matter what I do I'm not really making any difference to the huge list of things that I need to get done! I need to get a kick up the pants! I can do it for a day or two but not sustain it so I just need to get going.
I'm hoping that by posting my to do list for the weekend here it will help me to get going.- Plan and resource cover lessons (13)
- get Euro's (for the French cake!
) - Pack for Normandy
- Plan 2 talks for when we are there
- Finalise horse care details with my friend
- do 1 pre-course task for EdD
- Proof read and check the poster that I've already done
- top-up shop for OH whilst I'm away
- Sort money for farrier whilst away & buy joint supplement
- Sort and mark the final retakes of Controlled Assessments
- Clean house
- 2xloads of washing
- ironing
