  • Need to start the new year in a more disciplined way!!!  Not done great lately but keep overpaying a few hundred a month and keep sticking £150 pcm in the s and s ISA- apparently some of its invested in Amazon so its doing well (probably largely due to my own spending tho lol) x

  • I have deleted the Amazon app!  I am going to try to think more before purchasing things.  I want to rebuild my savings pots this year.

  • So today- am going to trim child’s hair save paying for haircut (easy at the mo)
    - Have been through budget for Jan
    -resisted takeaway over weekend
    - deleted Amazon App

Im determined to get on top of things again.  I changed jobs about a year ago and have never really got straight since but am getting to grips with things again now

  • So haircut turned out slightly shorter than planned as child mustve had head to one side, but quite passable actually!
I have made a couple of tilly tidies to the mortgage just to try to get a bit more focused again.
I have made an excel tracker and put all my finances on- still like playing about with YNAB too but feel Ive got a proper overview now.
Determined get back on track- Ive never stopped overpaying but I know I need to step it up if I want more choices in the future... part time etc...
I should probably speak to other half about stepping their part of the bills up a bit but do find this hard... hate sounding penny pinching etc and tend to avoid it.  One for the New Year I think.
Ive set up a few different shopping lists on My I Phone in Reminders- one for the cheap shops (Home Bargs etc), one for a wishlist to try to stop impulse buying... I did resist buying a new shopping list app so thats a start.
Id forgotten a family members card so we made one instead- lovely actually!
    Happy Christmas to you all!

  • Slightly concerned that the turkey is still frozen solid- I got it out yesterday morning to defrost in the fridge.  May have to buy a back up 😱
Hoping not to spend now for a few days.
Also forgot to say, I found £60 in my handbag yesterday.  I hadnt used it since the Summer and think it was petrol money for our trip.  Ive used it to fill the tank up and will swap the money around to balance the books over Christmas 😀

  • Have managed find my son some footie boots from the adidas site for £32, I actually found a promo code that worked!! I had expected pay about £60+ So thats a win.  Going try not to spend anymore today.
I am going to try to sort my money for next payday to increase my regular overpayment- ideally to double it to around £400 but not at the expense of living the life we want now.  When I started playing with the figures it seemed like it may be possible- not totally sure as my wage was an unusual one this month and need to check what my regular pay packet is going to be.  I can definitely tighten things up though- I have let things slip lately.

Slipping a bit- ended up paying out for snow boots and gloves for son- but really needed.
I have signed up for the YNab 34 day challenge- involves only buying essentials and NO eating out.  Ill give it a go!  (Take aways once a week are a weakness!)
Food budget seems to have gone out of the window.  Have said to partner about having a ‘money chat’, to discuss food budget and general money issues.  Used to manage £80 a week without too much trouble- now seems to be £100+ even with meal planning etc.

  • Ive been tracking my spending really tightly for a week and its already clear that what I think Im spending and what Im actually spending don’t match up.  I can never figure out why not.  I have transferred £100 over from my car fund to help balance the books and Im determined to get straight this month and start Feb 1st with a clean sheet and hopefully make it all balance!  I haven’t spent for a few days now so everything is now straight.  DDs are delayed due to xmas so am keeping track of those and trying not to spend any more money.  Im doing the money fast for Jan- I know Im going to find it really hard.  I want to het on top of things- I seem to overspend as soon as I get paid then spend the rest of the month doing the good ‘ol money shuffle.  Time to tackle this if I want to step up the OPs.
