  • I spent last night trying to figure out how to use ynab properly.  I always like planning oit my budget on it but Ive never recorded spends properly on there etc.  Someones thread recommended watching Nick True on youtube and that was helpful.  I struggle because I get paid on the 26th so its always messy.  Ive now set up my goals etc and accounts and I will have a go!  Seems along month waiting for payday.  I am being too tempted by Amazon- need to reign it in.  I am determined to get the grocery budget back in line and with more time at home I should be able to really.  Other half is exploring free view boxes with a view to ditching sky and saving £45 per month- then Ill increase my regular op.

I tend to be much more on ynab at the start of the month and struggled a bit with transactions at first so can try to help if you have any specific questions. I found it quite hard initially accounting for my overdrafts which has thankfully been a big driver to reduce them.

  • Mortgage payment gone off today.  Was £203,171 so managed to scrape together the £171 from various accounts and am now in the 202’s.  Ive increased my op every month by £50 and also managed increase my s and s contribution by £50 so I feel if I can maintain this then Ill be in a good place in ten years, but I can see Im getting towards a tipping point where hopefully itll start to snowball a bit with pay increases and hopefully a cheaper rate when we remortgage in a few years time etc...  keeping plodding on....

  • Ive gotten slightly obsessed with getting under the 200k mark.  Ive transferred £900 from my saving and am now at £201,992.  I cant scrape another penny now till pay day.  Im hoping two more pay cheques and we will do it.... still huge but feels like a big milestone x

    Better month food-budget wise.
Pots looking ok.  Trying to make petrol last until payday then Ill fill up whilst its still so cheap, enough to last the month hopefully (not using much).

  • Well due to go below £200k on next payment at last!!!  I am sticking to my mixed plan of £150 to my s and s isa alongside overpaying the mortgage.  I feel comfortable doing a bit of both.  Feel really spendy at the mo but actually most is budgeted for like uniform etc.  I didnt pay parking today and managed get what I needed at a good price etc.  Im finding it hard to resist spending on the garden
