Chrome keeps forgetting my settings

Just of late my Chrome homepage and home icon keeps disappearing. Every day I have to go into settings and add a home icon as well as set the Chrome page to open on the search front page. Sure enough, next day it defaults to the annoying Chrome Web Store.

How can I avoid this if it isn't keeping my settings ?

I had so many issues with Chrome, like not remembering passwords etc that I now use Firefox.

Have you set both 'on Start Up' & 'Appearance' in settings?

    Hi,

    When you say
Sure enough, next day it defaults to the annoying Chrome Web Store.
Is it always the following day or is that just the next time you open up Chrome?
If you set the home page then quit out of Chrome then does it remember it the next time you open.
Just out of interest is the time and date on your PC correct?

Also, which OS are you using - is it Windows 7, Mac OS X etc?

    Thanks

I am using XP, date and time correct. It seems to do it everytime I re-boot the computer.

Do you know what version of Chrome you are using?
If not then type in chrome://version/ in the address bar - it will present you with lots of information including the version of Chrome (Which will be something like - 26.0.1410.43)

Also, is it definitely after a reboot only or does the problem show when you close down/quit out of Chrome and reopen it?

    I am using version:26.0.1410.43

I re-booted yesterday and it still had my settings. Come to boot this morning and sure enough, back to no home icon and the annoying Chrome Store.

How strange - so you can change the settings, reboot on the same day and they will remain intact.
Yet when you boot up the following morning the settings have gone?

Are you performing the same 'restart' or a 'shutdown' in both cases?

If not then can you change the settings in Chrome, 'shutdown' the pc/laptop completely and then start up again - let us know if the settings have reset to default.

This all seems very curious and I can't help but think it is one of - date or time, maybe a low cmos battery, possibly an out of date certificate, maybe permissions for your user.

I have been out all day, come home and the settings have gone back again. This is frustrating.

does it seem that the problem happens when the computer has been off for a period of time?

ie computer is switched off overnight or switched off when you have been out all day?

    I'm still not sure of the results if;
    a) you apply your Chrome settings and restart - do they remain (I think you said they stay intact)
    b) you apply your Chrome settings shutdown/power off switch back on again straight away - do they remain?

I switched on this morning and the same, all back to no home. I just restarted and shut down and both times it remembered my settings. It seems when it's turned off for a few hours it doesn't remember.
