That's a US keyboard, so set Windows to use a US layout and you'll be fine, at least until you need to enter a £ sign.
I didn't know Dell had started doing laptops with the nipple mouse though!0 -

You either need to replace your keyboard or change your keyboard settings to US.

My apologies for my post - I was lead to believe that the OP only had that one key not working due to language setup, where clearly the £/# issue would also flag up, and missed the part where it was stated that the key is near backspace.
Just out of curiosity, the French keyboard, has the "A" and "Y" I think(?) thansposted? Why is this, and when French type, are letters hyphenated, ie Cafe with the extra bit?0 -

French use the AZERTY layout which has few more transposed letters. As for why; pretty much the same reason we use qwerty its just de-facto. There is probably a better reason, qwerty was specifically designed for English, so in theory it works less well for other languages.
grave `, acute ´ and circumflex ^ chars accents (usually) have alt or alt gr shifts or dead keys with the normal letter to generate them.
QWERTZ keyboards have dedicated accent keys0 -
So it would seem it is a US keyboard and the problem is that the computer is set to UK English. Maybe the computer needs to be changed to US English.0
