When I press the \ key below the backspace key I get a # and shift gives a ~.
Obviously I am not using it to post this.:rotfl:
I have pressed every key on the key board but I cannot find \.
I have all the updates and latest drivers so where is \ ?

Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:

Is your keyboard (in control panel) set to English UK ? It maybe also that the keyboard is a non-standard 102?? key board....4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . \ turning into # means you are using an American keyboard layout.
Start -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options
Languages -> Details
Set Default input language to English (United Kingdom)
You can then optionally click apply and then remove all the United States stuff from "Installed Services" to ensure it can never switch back.0 -
You probably have the wrong language selected. Make sure it is set to UK English. American keyboards have many buttons in different places, for example @ and " are likely to have swapped places if this is the case.0

No, it is set to UK English.
All the other keys work as they should.
That is the only key that is wrong.Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:0 -
Keyboard layout can be set independently of the rest of the OS.
Check in the specific place I posted in post #4.0 -
I did as you posted in post 4, I still get a # or ~.
All other keys give the correct response.Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:0 -

This forces changes to be made in which language is used.0 -
Try a new keyboard? '\', isnt a feature of French or American keyboards, therefore your settings are not wrong. Especially as it started happening, and was not always an issue.
The matrix within your keyboard maybe broken. Try twisting your keyboard/ dropping it (banging it! You ain't gonna break it!!); it's worked for me.
Or say to admins on threads; don't give me a yellow card, and threaten to ban me for two weeks; It was my keyboard that produced the wrong characters at the wrong times! Bit like Morcambe and Wise....
Strange that it happens to only one key, that you don't really need to use...using it to fill in a web site, you press CTRL-ENTER, and it autofills...? Or use a search engine, that autofills, never known anyone that needs to actually use '\' ever, for anything..0 -
