AVG updated on our computer on Sunday morning and since then we have been unable to get online on our tower pc. I have uninstalled AVG but we still cannot get online. Can anyone help please.

Thanks in advance.

It may help if you say what Version of Windoze, what type of(make) PC and whether it's wireless/ethernet.
p.s. don't put AVG back on try avast/avira/MSE

Sorry, it's a Dell computer with Windows XP and wired with an ethernet cable.

    Run the AVG remover.

My guess is you'll want the 32bit 2013 version.

Transfer the file using another computer and a CD/DVD/USB drive.

Thank you, as I'm not very computer literate could you please talk me through what to do.

I have saved the file on my laptop, how do I then put it on a disc and what do I need to do on my tower pc when it is on the disc?

Right click the file > send to > CD Drive (E:) <- or whatever corresponds to your CD drive

Start > My Computer > CD drive > Write these files to CD > follow the wizard

Then put the CD in the other computer and go Start > My Computer > CD drive & double click the file to run it.

I've done all that but still no luck, can you suggest anything else?

    You've run the AVG remover?

Try a system Restore to before Sunday when AVG updated.

Otherwise, if you can transfer a log back and forth between computers...

Download Farbar's Service Scanner from the link below and save it to your desktop.

    LINK
    • Double click FSS.exe to run it.
    • Check (tick) the following checkboxes
    • Internet Services
    • Windows Firewall
    • Other Services
    • Click Scan
    • When finished, notepad will open. Post the contents in your next reply.
The log can also be found on your desktop named FSS.txt

I downloaded the link on my laptop, put it on a cd and put into my tower pc. When the notepad came up it said 'cannot find the FSS.txt file, do you want to create a new file?'

It's seriously doing my head in now!! lol

Drag & drop or copy the file to the desktop and run it from there.
