iceland car park (excel)

My husband parked in Iceland car park that is managed by Excel parking. He paid for a ticket at the machine but messed up the registration no. of the car and did not know how to correct it as he did not have his reading glasses with him. He left the car park well in time but we have now received a £60.00 fine. Do you think we should appeal, is this enough reason?

    No.

    Does he have the ticket?

No, we did not keep the ticket but he can remember the reg. no. that he did put in, it was our reg. no. but not in the correct order.

Yep but do not say that he 'messed up' the registration number.

Just say (one paragraph) that you have the ticket the driver paid for, but will not produce it now to a random third party profit-making firm alleging this ridiculous 'charge' as you need it for evidence for POPLA if the PPC rejects your challenge. Say that there was no breach of contract and no loss so you expect their impersonation of a PCN to be cancelled.

As regards the challenge, just make it short and sweet at this stage. See my usual reply to newbies here:

...that also gives you some links to the next stage appeal which will be POPLA. Come back here for help to word a winning POPLA appeal, when you get the rejection.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for your advice, I have appealed and let them know that he did have a valid parking ticket. Has anyone taken them to court for harassment, my husband has spent the last year battling bowel cancer and is just getting over the effects of chemo and we could well do without this sort of illegal scum pursuing us.

Make sure they supply you with a POPLA code in the appeal rejection - I am sure they will reject. If not, then , in your case, I would write back and demand the code.

Please keep a note of the dates in the chain when and if they happen.

    Date received letter
    Date you responded
Date they reject your appeal (that's the date you received the letter, not the date they write on it)
Date you had to ask for POPLA code
    Date you received it etc

    Keep all communication as well
