Oven Issue at End of Tenancy. Help!

We've just checked out of our rental, the only issue was the oven. There is some sort of melted 'stuff' in the bottom, which was there when we moved in, but like an idiot i didn't mention when we moved in. The inventory says clean condition. I've cleaned the oven to within an inch of its life but this stuff is still there. The woman doing the check out noted that the oven was exceptionally clean, she wiped a napkin around it and it was still white, but this mark is an issue. I'm really worried that they're going to blame us, and try and get a whole new oven out of it. Any advise please????

Did she comment on it when she checked if the oven was clean? If not, you're probably ok.Note: Unless otherwise stated, my property related posts refer to England & Wales. Please make sure you state if you are discussing Scotland or elsewhere as laws differ.0

If the inventory states clean and the lady checking it said it was clean then I don't think you'll have a problem. A mark isn't the same as dirt0

The inventory states 'clean condition'. No mention of this mark on the bottom. The OH thinks its non organic which is why the cleaning chemicals etc didn't work. Really stressing me out:(0

Time to break out the sand paper! (No, seriously, don't do that.) Do you think it's plastic? Maybe some thinners would melt it. Hard to say without seeing it.0

It looks like metal to be honest. Can't do anything about it now, the keys have gone back, but I'm worried that we'll be blamed and they'll try and charge us for a new oven:(

I can understand how you feel, I have just got the check out list for my flat and it made me laugh. When I moved in almost 3 and a half years ago it wasn't exactly spotless. I've just dug out the inventory and almost everything says 'grubby' next to it. It will be much cleaner when I leave than it was when I moved in. The problem is it was managed by a different letting agency when I moved in to what it is now so I think it could cause problems.Starting mortgage balance 22/04/2013 £71,250
Overpayments to date £410
Current mortgage balance £70,6500 -
When I moved out of a rental, the oven was clean but not immaculate as you can't make an old oven immaculate.
The landlady, through the agent, asked me to get it spotless.
I sent a fairly abrupt but factual letter stating that it was in as good or better condition as it was when I moved in, and I would be rejecting ANY claim on my deposit.
They returned the full deposit.
Just don't take any nonsense.0 -

Well, with the exception of this mark in the bottom, the inventory woman said the oven was immaculate, the napkin she wiped around the inside came out white, even when she wiped it across the mark. The agents will be in touch tomorrow so ill see what they say.0
