I'm off this wekend to buy more Sarah so will get you one too :D

I've jsut been reading BA's thread about including all debts (not mortgage) and how Hypno's going to add her secured loan on house to her sig after Christmas...

We also have a £21,500 loan from OH's work. This wll begin to get paid in Aug next year, and is taken at source. Interest free (part of relocation package). Now obviously it wouldn't make sense to make overpayments on this , but I can't really say we're debt free until this is gone...not sure whether to include it in the sig or not. i think I should really.
    Hmm....

    HI Sea

I haven't read those two threads (off to read them now) but I too have been thinking of adding more debts to my sig next year. Yes I have more - and they dwarf the titchy 35k I've owned up to so far.

Perhaps some of us are going to go to the next level of debt-busting in 2008 - I hope so.
    Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.62

  • Just catching up and your thread has made me feel better. Felt I wasn't being honest with others or myself with my original signature, but I suppose there is only so much you can handle at a time. Wierdly feel a lot better now I have "come clean" as I suppose a loan is as much a debt as the CC, just felt more in control of the loan as it was not changeable.

See, I have spent all night on here now, back to obsessiveness! Well it's that or brooding on DH's complete and utter stupidness! His phone charger was also in there and he now has a flat battery so I can't keep telling him off!

    Hmm....

We are sort of similar to this as we are making car repayments until Sept 2008 so even if we get the remainder of debt paid off we are still not technically debt free. I'm not making overpayments to pay it quicker though as it's 0% interest so it would be daft to.

I'll also be paying off student loan until goodness knows when but I think Martin's advice is still to pay it off slowly and save your money instead. It doesn't show up on credit checks as a debt though (I don't think) so will be considering myself more or less debt free when the last credit card is gone.

Yeah - OH's wouldn't show up I don't think. I know about the sensible advice about the student loans, but I wish I'd used those money pressies from family to pay towards the student loan back in the day when I had no other debts! At least that is one debt I have actually finished - amazing really.

  • For total confession, earlier this year I emptied the kid's big whiskey jar of anything over 20p and banked it  to be fair I put it in anyway, but still........the shame
