    Hi all

Went to my app at the psychiatric unit today - was really nervous:o. Upshot is that my meds have been doubled, but I am 'just' depressed, not bipolar. The dr has also banned all alcohol and I have to go for some blood tests, and as a result of a discussion about drink, a liver function test. I actually don't think i have a problem with alcohol, but she seemed quite shocked at what i do drink (yes, I know Ive drunk the last two nights, but it's really not a regular thing!). So no booze over christmas or for my birthday. Ho hum.

I actually feel a lot better just for the talk etc with her. She also weighed me:eek: and made it clear that I should really try to not gain any more - all linked to how I feel about myself and my moods etc as well as needing a healthier diet - lots of b vitamins in my diet needed (she wasn't keen on taking them as supplements).

Now, I know it's not very MSE but I am considering getting a dog (not a puppy as I work away from home) and that would mean I would HAVE to walk everyday. I did when I had my dog at my mum's. The kids would love it and even OH has agreed, but it's just the getting of the dog now. Will have to have a think.

    Hope all are good

I'm glad that it went well and the you feel a bit better about it all.

Re the weight thing. I have the same problem (we do not discuss how much I have put on!!) So if you want someone to go through this with you I am here and need to as well.

Dog sounds great, OH would love one but he rents and isn't allowed pets. We expect loads of pic's once it arrives.

    Big hugs hon x

Well, I've managed to gain nearly all the weight lost (so about a stone so far) and the problem is my whole self esteem etc is linked to weight etc - not necessarily how I *look* iyswim. We're in it together hon! :)

All I want to do is be able to not eat rubbish for just one day. Not been successful for a very very long time. So far today I've eaten white toast, more white toast, tea and chocolate. A lot of chocolate. Which is not providing me with ANY goodness at all. So I'm going to do a meal plan tonight and go shopping for the next couple of weeks tomorrow. (MSE way of course!) While I will try to keep Slimming World in mind, I'm going to focus on loads of veggies etc and if I need to add flavoured butter to make me eat more, I will have it. Then once i've increased the healthier stuff, I'll cut back on the fat etc. No other way has worked, so I'll try this!!

Sounds like a very good idea.

I will meal plan tonight to. I'm away over Christmas so will have to cope. We have had someone leave today so the have been millions of cakes in the office.... I have tried to eat my own weight....

I might get you to look over my meal plan if that's ok. just to get a second opinion. I wont be going to Slimming World until the New Year now, but I will weigh in at home to try and get and idea.

I'll PM you my email address in case you want to chat

At least if I get you to look over it, I have to actually make one!

I'm so bad at actually following through on these things. So what meal ideas do you have?

Hello Sea, well I'm glad the appointment went well and you feel better for it.

I'm sure everybody - apart from wholefood extremists - could do with eating less junk and drinking less. I know I could. I try and try to not drink at home but it's really difficult. Especially as we live 100 yards from an off licence!

The dog idea is lovely and I'm sure all your family will be delighted to have a dog. Cant wait to hear more/see photos.

Indeed Seax!! Its quite reassuring being told not to drink though - kind of takes the decision out of my hands (daft I know!)

I really really would love a cavalier king charles spaniel. Ideal for the kids, would be ok at home etc. There is a system whereby you can sign up with a special rehoming place who rehome CKS's when their owners are not able to look after them etc (like they've gone into a home or whatever). Not sure how much donation you have to give though - will need to investigate further.
