Natwest no longer show transactions immediately, do other banks?

Ok I'm seriously thinking of leaving natwest, first they stop you using all other ATM machines and I have to trek miles to the nearest natwest/rbs machine and now I have to keep records of what I buy as they do not show up on my online banking until days even weeks later, and they didn't even consult us about it and not even mentioning all the glitches they have had lately iam disabled and the nearest cash machine I can use is miles away.I have the basic account as I went Bankrupt in 2008 and that's the only account I could get, now even with a letter saying I'm no longer bankrupt they will not let me get a current account, they want me to get an account where I have to pay monthly for it and that I can't afford, getting very disheartened now and I know I will have trouble getting a different bank account.0

With HSBC any card transactions will immediately affect your available balance but will only be fully processed once the retailer has 'polled' their card transactions for the day at the close of business that day.
That means that a card transaction will usually debit and show as debited from your account only on the next working day.
However locally there was an extreme example last year of transactions at an Asda petrol station which did not debit accounts until a month later due to Asda not polling their transactions for that day until much later.0 -

If your disabled and you can prove as such the bank may look at allowing you to use all ATMs.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
I used to have a basic account with Yorkshire Bank you still got a Maestro card and that showed immediately which I like as well.
Think it's a Readycash account. It's lying dormant at the mo!0 -
I've had this problem too - never been able to use pay@pump or anything like that, and can only use Natwest or RBS cash machines - and I've never been told about any changes!
At the moment, I'm in a bit of a financial bind - so my account fluctuates between credit and debit. I am able to top up with money from my savings. I made a payment of £11 on Friday for my Dart-tag, and when I got home, checked the balance of the account. I was surprised to notice that two direct debits, due to be paid today (monday) had been taken - on the friday! But because my available balance was zero, I couldn't see whether the amount shown was correct. I put it up to £40 credit - to get some petrol - went to pay this morning, and discovered that actually, that £40 had turned into £30 - because the Dart-Tag had not come off the total before the DDs were taken.
Before this, I've had it that my account was in negative, but as available balance showed zero, I didn't know exactly how much by, because transactions were not showing on the statement.
I use Natwest because I can see exactly what is in my account straight away - without having to run through transactions I've made before I decide what I want to spend. I'm really annoyed by this - especially as they haven't notified me of the change!0 -
Whenever you use a debit card, all banks reduce your available balance but the transaction will not actually show until at least the next day. This happens when you pay for TV licence or DVLA Car Tax by debit card also. You need to keep your debit card receipts to ensure you know your correct credit balance. This is why cheque books had those pages where you could reduce your credit balance by the cheque you were completing."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

Although what you say happens most of the time it dosen't always happen with my Lloyds TSB Debit Card. It depends how much I have spent and in what store, if it's quite a low amount the purchase isn't always immediately reflected in my available balance. I think Tesco is one of the stores this happens, Boots used to be similar but I have noticed purchases made there are now 'marked' immediately, regardless of the amount.
But i'd say well over 90% of the time purchases are indeed reflected in the available balance immediately.0 -
I actually phoned Natwest a few months ago to enquire about this very issue. I was told a bunch of barefaced lies by both the call centre operator and her manager. They told me categorically that their systems had not changed and that everything was just as it had always been. I asked if they were both was calling me a liar, and would they summarise that in writing, a question he quite skilfully avoided and absolutely befuddled her.
Now I know this is fact and that I wasn't hallucinating, unlike the phone monkey was trying to imply, I'm going to write a little letter to NW, demanding an explanation.0 -

Whilst Natwest's customer service is generally some way below most other banks, I doubt they were telling 'barefaced lies'.
Far more likely is that they were just not aware of the change - it's not a lie to give wrong information in good faith.0 -
Ill add to Yorkshire Bank, everything shows as I use the card. I cant give Yorkshire enough credit, very good Bank.
Also if I have DD going out on Monday the balance is already updated
at the weekend so I can't over spend.
I am also with the coop but find my card getting rejected on me due to the balance not getting updated.0
