School places dilemma

I wouldn't report it for the same reason as LE.
It should come out as the address used should be the one on the CHB documentation and you can be asked to prove it.
If she has been so free with her tongue someone else will report it for you. If it results in her daughter losing the place after having settled in I would feel quite sad for the child caught up in this, and really wouldn't want it to be through my doing.
You may think differently of course based on the child who may lose a place through their deceit. It is a hard one, but as I was not involved I would shy away from reporting her.0 -
What this lady is doing is wrong - and very unfair. The truth will come out - her daughter won't keep the lie up.
But life is unfair, my local school gives priority to the children of school staff. A family who live four streets away had to go to a different school than all the neighbourhood kids because that year four members of staff had children in that year. The staff all live in a different town!!!
Personally I wouldn't get involved. It will all come crashing down at some stage.0 -

(Also, the only person to be directly affected by your action is an innocent 4 year old child.)[/QUOTE]
Agree, but if the OP doesn't report it, surely another 4 year old will be affected by not getting a place that they could have had, and that's not fair either.
I'd report it anonymously, normally wouldn't get involved, but when it affects someone else that is playing fair, doing things by the book etc, well in that case I would speak up.0 -

My feeling is that if someone has the determination to do what ever it takes to get their child into a good school, they will have a good Plan B as well, just in case. On that basis I wouldn't have too much concern for the wronged wrong child, more for the child who lives 2 or 3 streets away and can't get in.0 -

I agree, but the plan B could still seriously emotionally affect the child if they have taken up the place and then have it rescinded.
I am a governor and we would act if this came to our attention, but I wouldn't report someone myself unless the information came to me officially.0 -

That's interesting. I didn't realise a school could take away a place once the child was at the school in these circumstances
Could I possibly pm you about a school issue I am having and get a governor's perspective please?
. It's not a long drawn out thing and not really worth starting a thread about, I just want specific advice. 0 -

Yes, in any school if an application is found to have been falsified the place can be withdrawn. It is at the discretion of the Head and GB at least it is in faith schools.
yes, feel free to pm me but I may be offline a lot of the time till Thursday as I am not at home. If I can help, I will.:D0 -
Shop em I say. Another child may lose out to this cheat.I'm retiring at 55. You can but dream.0

There are admission criteria for a reason and someone making a false declaration is depriving another child of a deserved place. I am a govenor at a primary school that is currently OK on numbers but the admissions criteria is still applied to all the aplications. I don't know if I would report someone unless I knew all the facts for 100% sure but it's not fair on someone if they don't get a place and the child with the dodgy address does.0
