Plusnet No Contract Unlimited BB

Im in the process of moving into a relatives (the wifes Grandmother) house for 2-3 months whilst we find a house to buy. She doesnt have Broadband, and has absolutely no interest in it, but our kids need it for school, and we need access for work if nothing else. She is willing to let us add a broadband package to her existing BT line as long as we fork out, understandably so. As we are expecting to be there no more than 3-4 months i dont want to be committed to a years contract (even though it will be in her name as all bills are remaining that way). I see Plusnet do an unlimited BB deal which has no contract at £12.50 per month and a £50 connection fee. Has anyone experience of using the uncontracted deal - are there any hidden surprises we need to be aware of? Will it be a problem when we end it after lets say, 2 months (or whatever time period it turns out to be)?

I had this back when we moved to a rental house. My parents pay the line rental, and not knowing how long we where going to be there for it ticked the boxes. I was on the old extra package (60GB a month), so had to be careful of usage. Their customer services are top notch imo.
Also worth noting if you do go for them on a month basis, you have to pay for the modem/router (wasn't a problem for me then, seeing as I had my own).

It's not 'no contract'. It's a 30 day minimum term, and 30 days notice. No, there are no catches, but of course you do pay more because of the upfront costs whch PN may not recover.
Why not move her line rental and phone to PN too and save Gran some money?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

...also you will have to pay ~£25 when you move out to disconnect the b/band service (unless your wife's g/mother wants to keep internet!!)

You can have just broadband with them, if you have your phone line/line rental with someone else. I/my folks do.

But you CAN'T do it the other way around. You CAN'T have just landline with Plusnet.

(AndysDad replied to a comment related to moving the landline to PN to save money. If the Gran doesn't want to continue with BB then the landline would need to be moved back to BT/reseller. If the landline remains with BT then your comment is valid, albeit superfluous as this is already expressed in this thread).

If you aren't going to use it much, you could think about a mobile wifi - that way, you could take it with you when you move, and it would tide you over until you got internet up and running at the new house.

But if you think there is a chance that your house purchase could drag on (most do!), I'd probably just bite the bullet and pay for internet over the landline.

Not quite true. Plusnet do not sell a phone-only product (IMHO they should) but they can downgrade HP + BB to just HP if requested - they'd rather keep your customer than lose you totally, and afterall, HP is where they make their money.
Sorry, but the customer is not always right. Often, you're very very wrong.

...don't think so - Customer Care have been asked that question on Plusnet's own forums and have stated that cancellation/move of b/band automatically terminates phone as well.
