I hope people realise that now the Tories have took the bulls by the horns and made these changes even if Labour do get in next term things will no change, Ed balls(up) talks a good word but cannot back it up and will realise when labour said to Tories good luck there is no money left on their departure they meant for both this term and he next one !
The cuts will be here for at least another 4 years and never again will benefits be so generous :(

I stayed up to watch the #IDSpetition pass the 100,000 mark - in less than a day. Incredible. http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/iain-duncan-smith-iain-duncan-smith-to-live-on-53-a-week

Starting a petition to ask IDS to live on £53 per week achieves very little.

Would it not be more helpful to the market trader who asked IDS this question for people to start a list of suggestions on how to improve his income and situation by building his business? . .

In an article I read it said he works 50 to 70 hours each week as a market trader but only earns £2700 per annum? .

And he went on to say that because of the weather he could only trade for 21 days so far this year, guess what he sells ............hats scarves gloves and raingear. If he got off his ar4e and stopped his gambling then he might one day be earning a decent wage instead of whinging about how hard done by he is.

Right back off to the competition's board for me PLEASE NOTE I DID NOT CREATE THIS PETITION i merely posted it here as i thought that those who are on benefits might want to sign, I didn't realise that their where so many obnoctious posters on this board so sorry for wasting your time.

OK, and while you're at it, take this thread to the DT board where it belongs.

this isnt a benefits question and belongs on DT

The Benefits board is not for touting for signature to a petition.

From a 'sticky' at the top of this board:
Its about helping people get their entitlement! Not about benefits policy!

This board is here for help and support for those on or looking to claim benefits, not for judgement.

It’s ONLY focus is helping people with their money.
It's here to help people find out what they are entitled to under the current system, and to help them get it.

Benefits provide a lifeline for many, and this site is here to help people with their money, and not to judge. Of course, how to illegally defraud the benefits system shouldn't be discussed here, but ensuring you're getting your entitlement is exactly what it’s about.

We all know the benefits system is a mess – but that’s for the discussion time.

Whatever you're political persuasion, we're all aware the benefits system is a mess. Whether it’s the malpayments of tax credits, benefit fraud, or simply the fact that sometimes it doesn't pay to work - everyone has their grumble.

Yet to discuss the benefits system itself and issues around it, the appropriate place isn't here but the Discussion time Board and even there, please remember courtesy and not to make it personal about anyone. This site's prime purpose it to help people with their money and I will always act to protect that. Thanks for your co-operation

What a total waste of time this petition is. IDS was stating a fact. "If he HAD to live on it he would" as we all would. He didnt say it was possible to live on, just if he had no other choice thats exactly what he would do. I wonder how many of the 200,000+ people who have signed up to this petition are benefit claimants who use public money to fund their Sky TV, cigarette addiction & increasingly growing family when they clearly cant afford to pay for kids.

Excuse my rant but it does frustrate the hell out of me.

As per my post above, I really dislike posts on the Benefit boards that belong on the DT board.

BUT - I have to say this petition is laughable.

What on earth is the point of IDS proving he can (or can't) live on £53 per week for 1 year.

Who is going to monitor it?

Where is he going to live during this year?

    etc etc

If people are really disillusioned with this govt, rather than signing a pointless petition which will be lost amongst the million other pointless online e-petitions, vote with your feet at the next election.

There under 25 single no kids and can't find a job? It's £57 actually ;)

Or over 25 and having to pay the bedroom tax which would also leave them with £57.
The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.
