Expensive broadband, any help please?

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help please.
I have my broadband with Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange/EE (I think they are called EE this week!), been with them for over 10 years and service has been great, only been down for a few hours in all that time.
Problem is, I live in a semi-rural area that hasn't been 'unbundled' (I think that's the phrase) so I am paying around £34 per month for my broadband (including line rental and unlimited calls). It's provided via BT Wholesale I think, rather than EE's own exchange.
I have no use for the calls, but it is only something like £1 per month extra for them so worth having.
I would dearly love cheaper broadband (happy to do away with any calls or line rental that I don't need), everyone I know is paying much, much less - do I have any options, or do I have to wait for some proper competition to arrive in the area?
Thanks in advance, TP.

If you can live with a 10GB cap, then look at Plusnet Essentials; even with the Market 1 surcharge, it'll be cheaper than £34. Around £27 with the basic call tariff. If you want unlimited broadband, it's another £4pm. Take their Line Rental Saver to reduce the costs further.
If you have no use for unlimited calls, however cheap, then why pay for it? That's £12 a year wasted. No free lunch, and no free laptop

EE/Orange are doing a retention deal for £20 or £17 if you pay your line rental upfront, which includes anytime UK calls, international calls and mobile calls.0
