How soon did you get your Nationwide Flexdirect agreement?

Like a number of people on this forum I applied for one of these for the 5% interest as I intend to use it as a bill account for the next 12 months, paying in about 1100 a month.
I applied online and was approved on Wednesday evening of the week before last but opted not to use their switching service as am quite happy with First Direct.
I am now eagerly awaiting the agreement, how long did yours take to come?

I got an agreement to sign fairly quickly ie. within a week, but after another two weeks I hadn't received anything else. After a phone call it appears that they hadn't taken any action after receiving the signed agreement. Following the phone call over the next week I received my debit card, pin number and internet access information. Just waiting for the secure key device to arrive although my co-op security device works fine.0

Oh no not one of those flipping card readers, grrrr!
I'll only be keeping the account until the 5% wears off then they'll get the reader back with a nice letter asking them to close the account and then onto the next offer.
Not really good you had to prompt them to open your account but I suspect they are awash with agreements/applications due to the interest rate.Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0 -

You don't need to use it to log in.
You generally only need it for payments to new payees once you're logged in (and even then, you won't always need it).0 -
You'd want a card reader with a FlexDirect with 100% certainty, even, or particularly, if you want to use the account just as a savings account. Otherwise you couldn't transfer out your monthly £1K deposits, your interest payments, or your balance as and when you come to closing the account.
If you ever had reason to use the HSBC card reader, you'll be delighted with the Nationwide one!0 -
i like the card reader in general its a good idea.0

I disagree, it means I have to be at home to set up new payees. I've been a victim of debit/credit card fraud twice but never has someone broken into my online banking because my passwords are very secure. I should not be forced to use a card reader if I don't want to.0

Everything has now arrived bar the card reader.
I called them this evening and was told there had been a problem with dispatching card readers and to wait till the end of the week and if hadn't shown up to reorder another via the online banking system.
I'm rather glad I'm not using this as my main account as lots of stuff within the online banking system appears to be dependent on this.Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0 -

There are a few 'setting up' bits that rely on the card reader.
But once you're going, you'll find that you very rarely need to use it.
In fact, my main problem is that I use it so infrequently I always forget where it is. If they made me use it more often I'd be more likely to remember!0
