Sky or TalkTalk broadband

Well, the question you ask is which poor broadband service should I choose.
I run a computer shop and have had about 15 years in the industry.
Everyday i get customers with problems and non connection issues from:
Talktalk
Sky
Orange
The above are those who are providing an amazing FREE broadband service.
You get what you pay for.
All of the above also have a poor customer service (In mine and my customers experience, and only get results when you actually show you know what youre talking about, only then do they stop giving you the run around)

Orange used to beWanadoo, and since their takeover thier service has been poor.
Talktalk have oversubscribed and cant handle the volume of users, also they are LLU (Locla Loop unbundling) which means you need to switch from a BT Line to theirs (Not a good idea)
Dont enter into an 18 month contract!!!!
Another problem with these providers is they off 8Meg and 16Meg connections, but these can only be gotten by the most up to date exchanges, and even then you need to be close to the exchange to get full speeds, those whose exchange will only usually support between 2-4Meg who go on the fast packages are not getting a reliable service as they are setting up an 8 or 16Meg service on a 2-4Meg capable system.
In mine and my cutomers experience if your exchange only supports 2-4meg, then only use that level of package or it will be flaky and up and down, and mostly down!!!
I hope that helps, of course you now want to find the best value and reliablity provider - why not check online, google for uk broadband charts or league tables.
£15.00 is not too bad for a reliable service with good tech support
Hope this helps.

all this confirms my suspicions, For £10 a month more I am probably better off staying where I am. It is a shame that the expectations are not realised with these bundled offers. 0 -

It was actually Easynet that BSKYB bought to roll out their broadband plans, as they needed a company with a little more local loop access.
Sky do seem to be the best of the "free" providers as long as you don't need any customer services as people say.
I am currently with BT Option 4 (forced to downgrade to option 3) but my contract is up in June and I am seriously thinking about SKY as an alternative for a tenner. I know I may not get 16mb on my exchange but the extra £5 is worth unlimited metering as I use P2P a bit.
Also if you go for the MAX 16mb offering it's free connection at the moment, otherwise it's £40 for one of the lighter options. You will also get an ADSL2+ wireless router free (which I think is the Netgear DG834GT model that I already use). Although reading the forums they have their own firmware on this that isn't too hot, but I should still be able to use my existing one and use the sky one as backup (unofficially of course.)
http://www.skyuser.co.uk is a great resource for all things SKY Broadband and you can read all the good and bad stories there.
In the end the saying "you pays your money you takes your chance" springs to mind !!!!0
