Sky or TalkTalk broadband

Hi,
Currently I am with Plusnet for my broadband however I am thinking of changing to one of the all inclusive packages from Sky or TalkTalk.
I use my broadband for general internet use plus online gaming (MMOs), no P2P, and occaisional music download.
Currently I use BT for phone with Onetel (now owned by Talktalk) for calls and I have Sky+ currently with all basic and movies (though thinking about dropping movies and just having basic and Sky+). Also for completness I have a mobile but its a Tesco PAYG (though I would swap if it proved a better alround deal).
So I am interested if anyone has any recomendations for either of these two firms products - as far as personal preferences go both are not in my best books Sky are too big and money grabbing, and in the past I have had a few moans with Carphone warehouse. Although out of the two CPW are the better standing... but I will opt for whichever product is better and cheaper and well recommended.
money part
From what I have seen
Talktalk with phone calls/rental/broadband £19.99 for 3 months the £20.99 (plus sky package @£37) = £57 a month. cannot see any setup BB cost.
Sky with Phone calls/Sky/broadband £47 (plus £11 BT line rental) = £58 + £20 setup cost
So as you can see not really much in it - so far balance is slightly tipped to Talktalk as they are slightly cheaper, I am already sort of with them (as onetel) and I prefer them over Sky as a company.
So have I missed anything on these two, is there any recommendations. Or do you know of a better deal I can get say via Orange or someother provider.
So if you have any advice let me know - thanks in advance

if you go with TT "free BB" you will have to move your line rental away from BT... I found this a big issueAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

Im with TalkTalk and I cant wait until my 18month contract is over so that I can cancel it. Lesson Learned is not to take up 18months contracts on services from companies that are not tried and tested

Ive got their Talk 3 International which offers international call at free/low rates and free broadband and was the main reason I got it.
The international calls never seem to work to where I want to ring and I never got my broadband transferred for months from ordering and they never connacted me to tell me they had a problem.
Only good point was they were quick to trasnfer my phone line and thats it.
Customer service is one of the worst Ive come across. It took them 4 months and numerous calls at cost to get my DD details correct.
They were voted 2nd worst broadband provider by a Watchdog poll just behing the Orange service.
I havent also heard good things about the Sky broadband service but cannot advise you further on them
Im thinking of going back to BT who I never had any major problems with when I used them for years. Any problems were quickly rectified. They are more abit expensive but I would rather have the service and pay more than stress about stuff.0 -
this was my concern! Although I want to save money I dont want to shoot myself in the foot for a £10 saving. Does anyone have anything good to say on these or any multi play product?
edit: my current plan
Phone calls about £5 a month
BT Line rental £11
Plus net BB £15
Sky+ & 6&movies £37
total = £68
So although this only shows a £10 ish saving this will fluctuate as i pay for my daytime calls0 -
I've had no probs at all with TT. Very pleased.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0

Girlfriend's sister ordered TT ADSL.
Waited for the first month to the promised installation date, nothing happened. After two further months of almost weekly phone calls chasing, she gave up and went elsewhere. Shambolic company.0 -

If you go for TT I suggest you ask around in your neighbourhood to establish how long it takes for the broadband to come through. If your exchange is already on LLU, chances are they'll connect in about 1 month. Also read this
http://www.talktalk.co.uk/talktalk/servlet/gben-server-PageServer?article=MAIN.UK.TALKTALK.STATIC.BROADBAND.LEGACY and check if your local exchange has TT LLU using https://www.samknows.com0 -
Can't really comment about either service as don't have BB with either sky or TT but i can say this:
I installed sky BB for my friend when it arrived (only 3-4 weeks after applying) and it is literally plug and play to install. The settings are already in router and you just need to tweak them for wireless use and thats it.
I've installed BB for my friends and family with a variety of providers (not TT tho) and it was the quickest one I've ever done.
Not much reason to chose but it's most I can offer as use UKonline but I am thinking of moving to sky but only because it works out cheaper.

Any of these cheap providers are OK ish until you need any help, I personally wouldn't use any ISP that ties you to them for 12 or more months.
Oh and there is no guarantee that they will stay at this price, especially with Sky.0 -
Until last week I had both ( at same time )
I do suffer from poor line quality ( longish way from exchange)
and unfortunately I think the TT line was worse than sky, so that might have caused more issues with them
I have friends with both, and Sky seem to come out better amongst them
Neither companies c/s is that great . But as I said, going with Sky means sticking with BT for line ... which is a plus if later moving house/ providerAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0
