Correct. The chimney is only for effect and can be cut to any height you want.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
I will suggest an option that hasn't been mentioned yet - you could go for the downdraft extractor. That's the one that sits hidden within the worktop behind or beside your hob, and only comes out when you need it. These are a bit expensive and recirculating ones are not that common, but you can always find one you might like.0

We had the same problem in our new extension. With a vaulted ceiling, the lowest point was a tad over 2m, exactly where our 60cm induction hob was to be cited. The chimney is one problem that can be solved with cutting, what isn't solvable is the bend you need to vent it out (if you don't want to recircuate the air). The height of the extractor unit varies alot in units, and can be as tall as the chimney, that has to be taken into consideration. We ended up buying one from CDA, and it seemed to be the lowest height in chimney and extractor. With a little effort and using a reducer (its a little noiser now), we got there in the end.0
