when looking desperately for symptoms please remember that every woman is different, as is every pregnancy,
some people have no symptoms at all and have perfectly healthy babies,

personally i had very sore nipples, and was so tired i thought i had been hit by a truck! nausea up to 13 weeks and only when the nausea stopped did i start actually being sick.... pregnancy is a ridiculous trick to pull on us! :)

I kind of just knew from about 8 days after ovulating. I had some implanation bleeding 10 days after ovulating, I started feeling different (v difficult to describe, i just knew), my boobs were incredibly sore, more so than they normally are before I'm due.
I took one of the Clear Blue digital on the Monday before I was due on the Friday and it was positive, using mid morning urine. I'm now 29 weeks pregnant with number 1.

With my first - I just knew. Took a test a day late and it was +ve.
With my second I can't really remember - it was a bit of a shock LOL, but with LO, I was late and took a cheapy test -ve after another week, I took another test and the line was really really faint but it was just about visible. I phoned the helpline and she said it doesn't matter how faint the line is, if it's there it's +ve.

You can get false -ve readings due to the hormone levels in your body not being strong enough to detect pregnancy, but you should never ever get a false +ve result.

When I first found out I was pregnant with my daughter i had no symptoms at all, but my other half did!!!
i was a few days late and just had that feeling, but i didnt say anything to anyone(not even OH) and i delayed doing a test as i didnt want to be dissappointed.
my other half started being sick in the mornings about a week before i took a test. the day before i took the test i got a call from my sister to say she was pregnant!!! this made me think 'uh oh... my mum isnt going to be happy if we're both pregnant at the same time' as me and sis live opposite ends of the country so she wont know which way to go!

the day after i found out about my sis, i thought id started my period, but it stopped after a few hours and i was having tummy pains(the doc said later that this could have been brought on by nerves as everything was fine). i was worried so phoned my mum for advice- she went mad, not because i thought i was pregnant but because i hadnt said anything to anyone and not done a test earlier! she spoke to my OH and told him to get me straight to a chemist and get a test.

it was about 8pm and as we lived in a tiny cotswold village, obviously no where was open except the tesco extra 20 miles away.
they only had the tesco own brand tests so we had no choice.
needless to say the test showed positive within 20 seconds, i was only 8 weeks pregnant and i took the test at 9 pm so i was very impressed with them.

my other half was sooo happy he ran downstairs (we ran a pub at the time) and told all the customers and bought them drinks before id even finished in the bathroom!
the next morning my other half was fine and i started with all-day sickness, sore boobs etc... it continued til gabriella was born!!!

my mum was worried about who she should be with when the babies were born, but it turned out ok as i had gabriella on 1st october, and sis had her boy on 4th oct giving granny time to travel from one end of the country to the other and be there at both births!

EDIT; next baby i will probably use tesco own brand test again- i was really impressed by them, and i wont go from what symptons i have-instead rely on my gut feeling and what symptoms my other half has!!!
  • Hi, I didn't get any symptoms ie morning sickness, mine was just a missed period. I used a clear blue test which showed positive before the other line appeared to say it had worked!!!. I was roughly 5 weeks gone at the time I went to my GP and asked them to do a test but they refused do one cause I'd done a clear blue test which was 99.9% accurate and booked me in with the midwife!!!

i found out at 3 weeks in the hospital.

i had felt so so ill for 2 weeks, been chucking up everything, churning stomach and when my flatmates left for the summer and i was on my own i thought "i just cant cope i feel like im gonna die" so i walked down to the hospital (it was just down the rd) where i promptly threw up and nearly fainted. Anywho they took me in for a wee wee and blood test and asked the normal questions etc - of course i said no im not pregnant (as i didnt think i was as i dont ever recall anything odd about my periods) and was informed 5 mins later yes i was.

I continued to be sick until week 13 or so and was in hospital for a week or so from 10+5 due to major dehydration and weight loss, but after that my pregnancy was if you ask me a bit of a breeze :)
