Pregnancy Symptoms

I was interested to know what peoples experiences are of first pregnancy and what symptoms did you have before you decided to test?
Also what pregnancy test did you use - were you money saving and used shop own brand? or did you use a more expensive test?
Which ones, in your experiences were most accurate? Are cheaper tests a false economy?
How pregnant were you when you found out?
---
Since my last period which lasted half a day I have felt really nauseous on some days and then excessively hungry on others. I have had sore breasts and itchy nipples, urinate frequently and have a sore back and swollen stomach. My period this month is 6 days late.
I have done two Asda pregnancy tests, both about 5pm in the day, both said negative but urine was very diluted. I did these tests 3 days apart. Have been to the doctors todayat 5:30 and my urine was like water, he tested and again this was negative. Based on my symptoms though he wants me to take a first morning sample which he will send to the hospital as apparently their tests are more accurate.
So at the moment I am going on the basis that I am not pregnant and then if it comes back positive then it will be a nice suprise. Quite shocked though as my period has never been late since I first started at 11. I don't feel stressed so that is not a factor for my missed period.

i used an asda test on 2 of my last pregnancys and i was less than a week late and both came back positive. i did use an early morning sample as they usually state this but after 5 kids i usually knew before i took the test! all tests i've done either wih a chemist or a home test have always given me the right results although there is room for error.0

It's odd this, I'm kinda in the same boat except I had a tubal ligation about 3 yrs ago. I've been experiencing pregnancy symptoms similar to yours Bunnie, but pregnancy test I did this afternoon was negative (boots test by the way). I did go to the Drs last Wednesday, and he just gave me Voltarol (strong version of Ibrufren). Obviously they ain't gonna offer me a pregnancy test because I've had a tubal ligation, but I've read of the net that women can still fall pregnant after sterilization.0

Me and DH are trying for a baby and have been trying since about October, during this time this is the first time my period has been late.
I was on the Pill so it has taken some time for my body to get back to normal.
I am considering buying several tests from Poundland and then testing on a weekly basis (if my period does not come along)
I have read on other websites where women have had many urine tests and blood tests at the doctors which have come back negative when they were actually pregnant because apparently every woman is different in the amount of hormone they produce. It's just a waiting game I suppose0 -
Well hopefully you won't have to wait and the result from the Drs will be a positive one.0

i brought asda's test and tested mid morning (after about 7 pee's lol) on the day i was due my monthly and got a very very faint line. i then waited 4 days and tested again with 1st pee and got a much better line so i'm defo preggers.
i used asda's test woth my 1st child and that also worked.
the 1st main sign i got b4 i tested was that everything that could would hit my very painful boobs lol and then about 3 weeks after the test i started with the sickness.
this time so far i haven't been sick tho i have @ times felt like i was gonna, otherwise i feel no different lol
good luck i have my fingers crossed 4 ya xxxx1st son born 11/02/05 2nd son born 09/01/08
thats all i'm adding to the human race so think yourselfs lucky lol0 -
I used a test I got from eBay (10 for £1!), and I got a positive in the afternoon at 5 weeks pregnant. Of course, doing all 10 tests wasn't enough to convince me and I did 2 Clearblues afterwards (moneysaving went out the window with the shock!). My only symptom was really sore boobs, but I don't ever get sore boobs with my period so I knew it was unusual.
Good luck!0 -
Unusual hysteria and emoting everywhere was a clue for me. Metallic taste when drinking coffee and feeling not quite right. If you are looking forward to having children save your money on pregnancy kits you'll know one way or other in another couple of weeks....and boy will you need the money.0

I used a branded early test cos it was what was in the cupboard (can't remember the name) - I tested the day after I was due (I'm regular as clockwork usually) to just check I was late and OMG no I was pregnant. It was a morning test, can't remember if it was first thing, and the line was very clearly there. When I realised I was pregnant it explained why I'd had to hold my boobs whilst doing aerobics the day before but otherwise I didn't have any symptoms except for waking up early and not being able to get back to sleep.
I would say whatever test you use it's false economy to test late in the day even though some women still get a result then.0 -
Hmm I might consider getting another test and doing it as soon as I get out of bed.
I just feel a fool, especially since I've been sterilized.
apologies for seemingly to have hijacked thread0 -
The day after my period was due I felt really odd. My boobs were really painful and my digestion went haywire, but I just felt serene about it. I was going on a skiing holiday in five days time, so I was a bit peeved that my period was late, trying to ruin my holiday. That evening I played poker, as you do  and had no clue what I was doing, my brain was complete mush, quite funny really. So the next morning I absentmindedly picked up a Tesco test, and pee'd on it at lunchtime. Then I hid behind the kitchen door as hubby waited the required two minutes
. I stayed there as he tried to convince me there was a line.
The next few weeks the only question on my lips was 'oh my God what now??'
Good luck!
It's that easy, you try for months, disappointed every time when your period arrives, until it doesn't and it turns your world upside down. Deffo worth the wait.:wall:0
