I didn't know that alfie so just done a quick google
    & found this..

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2013/mar/28/rsbp-garden-birdwatch-survey

so looks like you're right :A we've lots of sparrows though :j
last year we had a few starlings come but never seen so many as what came this afternoon
hope everyone always helps feed/look after them so's we can get the numbers up again :j

Oh thank you ff :A - just read that and recall seeing something similar last year plus other news snippets about the demise of our birds.

Our sparrows have also increased and we now have quite a gathering of the wee critters. Some have been 'sunbathing' in the borders these last few days when it has been hot!! Hopefully numbers of birds will increase, I think there are more on the endangered list :( but hopefully we can rectify that by feeding and monitoring their numbers etc and try our best. Fingers crossed. :) xxx

Oh! That cud be good news? :) cos pretty sure I can recall a wee way back that starlings were on the endangered list?

I have them nesting under tiles on me garage - they come bak every year, but you are so right ..... huge flock of them does create a bit of noise!!! :o:o

I only have few here at the mo, so not too noisy but cat loves spying on them from upstairs bedroom where she has a 'bird's eye view':eek:

She sits there watching, drooling at the parent birds feeding the chicks  xxxxx

We don't seem to get starlings here, lots of other birds though. :j
DH put our bird feeders up in the trees as we've got Winnie and there are other cats around so can't have them too low. He looks like a lamplighter when he goes out to fill them as he has to use a long pole to reach them :D
She spends more time watching Springwatch than the real thing at the moment :o

Wingo, best wishes again for your Mum, and you too, it's so hard to see a parent ill :(

Hope you all have a great evening xx

    Thanks everyone :)

Ooh Alfie, I never knew starlings were endangered species. My dad used to get them often when he had his fish pond and they would leave a greasy film over the water so you knew they had been around the pond. I don't know if they come back again as doesn't have fish in pond now.
It's a shame about all the animals becoming endangered.

:j great pics of winnie walwin :j:T
thanks so much for sharing :A:j:A
she looks gorgeous big cuddles for her :j

agree with you alfie :A think we all need to help the birds even in the good weather now that the insect population is also diminishing due to people using insecticides etc, but that's another subject,
our sparrows are brilliant to watch when sunbathing & love it when they all take turns having a 'bath' :j:D
    so funny to watch :D

wingo/alfie, re the Tesco quiche, wouldn't go overboard for it :o
wasn't much broccoli in & thought the rest of the filling tasted a bit bland,
DH scoffed it down though :eek: said he thought it was 'ok'
don't think i'll be buying it again though
please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly. k2u58ioz4c8e.png

    Hi everyone,

Just been out for a little walk and called in to visit my parents. Know what you mean about parents suddenly looking old wingo. Hope your mum will be OK.
My DD is away at a farm at a birthday sleep over and DS3 has clothes all laid out for going out when he finishes work so should be a quiet night for us.

Glad Rafa won walwin. Going to have a look at your pics now.

Well done on your glamour wins too Katie :j I saw your post on FB :) I didn't expect to win anymore either but looking forward to the shampoo/conditioner coming as we use so much in this house!

Hope it's a good night for your son Sheils (and a quiet night for you! :p) My DD2 fell asleep snuggled into me while we were watching The Gruffalo's Child. DS is watching Oliver in bed! I only allow them to watch a movie in bed when it's not school night.

I won't bother buying the quiche then fire**fly! I think I only prefer cafe quiches and Cooplands.
I covered paddling pool up earlier and grass was wet around it, when I looked out we had a starling in the garden! :D Must have heard us taking about them! The magpies soon chased it though!

FF: shame the flan wasn't as palatable as you expected. I've never liked shop bought flans/quiches.
