Hiya All!
Sorry don't really have time to read back but hugs and kisses to those that need them
just posting to say that yesterday turned out to be a very good day albeit it started out badly with the electric kettle refusing to work first thing in the morning
I have finally got the care providers that I have been pushing for ever since the first care providers pulled out
they are 100% better than the first 3 care providers put together and deliver good quality care but they are really expensive costing nearly twice as much as the first three care providers hence Social Services reluctance to pay for them
many thanks go to the people from help line for telling me how to press the magic button which opens the door to getting more help from Social Services
they basically said the reason I am getting no help is because I am a good carer and coping very well and not complaining, they also said that those that can't cope get more help and that those who shout the loudest get even more help
so on Monday I did a lot of shouting to Social Services and told them that I wasn't coping and was getting extremely stressed out and I was thinking of pulling out as a carer and that I needed a lot more support from Social Services - end result I managed to get the care providers that I having been pushing for since day 1, I have managed to get 2 comfort slings which can be left "in situ", finally managed to get the social worker to visit and they said that they will ask for funding from 2 charities for the respite holidays that are costing over £3,000 and they have also advised me on getting day care for Alice with the day care center just around the corner from us (should I need it)
in the mean time the new care company has said that as they only charge by the hour and as the call at 1pm is only a a short one they have said that they will stay with Alice for an hour each day so that I can have an hour of respite time :T:T:T
I have purchased a CQR mobile chair for Alice (as she is becoming very agitated with all of the hoisting) so that she doesn't have to be hoisted too many times - she will be able to be hoisted straight from her bed and into the mobile chair and pushed straight into the living room thus cutting her being hoisted by 50%
Social services have said that they will try to fund some of the cost for the above but they can't really promise anything to be honest I can understand this as they are already in the process of obtaining funding for two ceiling hoists and tracking - how-ether I am now pushing for an Air bed this I think will be more of a challenge as the district nurse has said that in our area they can't provide them unless the patient has grade 3 pressure sores!
oh and the other good news is our heating boiler has finally been fixed and postie delivered a set of kitchen knives worth £260 see IWIWIW
tempted to do a bit of comping but I really need to go back to bed and try and get an hours sleep

Morning all,
Lovely sunny morning again - bet it isn't tomorrow when we have decided to take DD and her friend to Edinburgh.
Great towel pics ILC. Sorry to be really dim but are they for me because I am always going on holiday? Well done on the Lotto numbers win.
So glad things are starting to get better for you Amilucky? I cared for my 1st husband for a few weeks when he was dying of cancer but can't imagine what it would be like to care for someone for years. Take all the help and finance you can get.
Wishing everyone a great and lucky day.
