                    Hi,
I just wondered how insurance companies can get away with not covering you for the first 14 days of a policy you have paid for for 12 months??? Surely a 12 month policy should cover you for 12 months? I'm just a little confused.

I think your very confused, its normally a 14day cooling of period doesnt mean your not covered..Can I find out my credit score? You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)0

No, I've just bought pet insurance and in the 'Whats not covered' part of the key facts, it says the first 14 days of the policy. Grrr. Not impressed. Is that even legal?0

I couldn't find their Key Facts on the website to show you, but I did find further reference to it here:

It's the same for my mobile phone insurance too

Are you sure this doesn't relate to one particular aspect of your policy, I.e breakdown cover?0

Yes, it's legal, why wouldn't it be?
It's common on certain types of policies - pet and mobiles are the obvious ones. It's to stop uninsured losses taking place and then policy cover being taken out.0 -
Surely if I pay for 12 months, it is more legal to refuse cover in the next 14 days of any policy? So I still gt 12 months but it has to start in 14 days time? Instead I just feel completely abused and ripped off. Oh wait, I bought insurance. Silly me

Your cover for accidental injury and third party liability begins straight away as these are incidents which have a clear and specific date of occurrence.
The 14 day waiting period for illnesses is to stop people from seeing their pet is ill, buying a policy, then going to the vet and claiming it all happened after the policy was taken out. It doesn't apply to renewals.0 -

Are you on something ???
Surely you read the terms and conditions before you buy ???0 -

This can be effective in some cases but what is there to stop people waiting out the 14 days and making a claim? There must be many illnesses where the pet survives or is comfortable enough to last that long before seeking treatment.Your cover for accidental injury and third party liability begins straight away as these are incidents which have a clear and specific date of occurrence.
