Runaways very long haul

  • Hi Runaway

You seem to have made a really great start - £1,000 in your first month. Wow!

Are you aiming to clear your mortgage at the same time as your unsecured debt? That would be an amazing feeling.

I know what you mean about it feeling a long time between paydays, and hence debt repayments. I'm trying to tackle that - and get healthier too - by saving a small amount (OK, a pound!) every time I do some exercise or something very active. That way I see a small fund growing each day and after two or three weeks I can put the coins in a savings account (or put it towards debt) and feel I;ve made progress during the quiet weeks.

Would that work for you, maybe saving a small sum every time you go for a run?

Thanks for your comments GBOT. Yes mortgage & unsecured debt both to be cleared but not for a long time :(. Main reason the mortgage is in the total debt amount is for motivation as mortgage payment is the biggest debt chunk to be repaid every month.

I'm finding training pretty difficult just now... Probably due to the fact every time I go out there seems to be strong winds blowing.

Not a great start to May on both the debt-busting & training fronts. Had an expensive weekend, but it had been planned for a long time so no surprises. Didn't run for 5 days due to feeling like ssh11tt. Think I had a virus or something, but thankfully it's gone now.

May is proving to be a very difficult & challenging month on the money front. Just need to try to spend virtually nothing except on food between now & month end. Finding it difficult to get motivated when bills & unexpected costs just keep coming my way.

Just looked at the numbers & despite May being very tight financially, debt is still decreasing. Feel better today....probably after having a nice, enjoyable run in the sun yesterday.

Plans for rest of this month: spend virtually nothing, drink hardly any alcohol, keep on running

Just been looking at monthly outgoings list & trying to see if anything can be reduced. Home Insurance looks like the only candidate, but probably only a few £s per month could be saved. Time for comparison & cashback websites this evening.

Gonna go out running later...hope the rain stays off

Not many £s left this month, so long wait for payday.

This debt busting really is a war of attrition .... as is going our running regularly, especially when the weather is poor..... but both MUST be done :)

Looking forward to a holiday weekend to recharge the batteries. Shall do next months budget within the next few days. Doing budgets & discipline have been the important factors thus far in my debt busting quest.

Mortgage payment tomorrow so have updated signature 1 day early as its off my current a/c already

Looks like another frugal month ahead for June so need to keep disciplined.

Just back from a run (jog) so feel quite good.... Happy but poor I guess
