Does that read...you broke down, joined the AA, they came out and fixed the car, and now you want your money back?

If that is correct its understandable they want to charge
I do hope Snowy Owl is not really expecting an AA Breakdown callout for free, is he. ;)

Perfectly valid charge. Why should they turn out sign you up, get you back on the road and you attempt to get your money back to make a cost saving? If you sorted the problem yourself I can see your angst, but not otherwise.

If I didn't buy it in a breakdown situation it would've been £20.
But you didn't. You took the risk of not insuring yourself for breakdowns and it didn't pay off.

That's how I read it. It seems pretty cheeky to me.

I've had several bad experiences with the AA and would never rejoin, but I'm with them on this one.

Money saving would be have been to shop around before buying :)

I did. :) I spent several hours, over the course of several days, comparing cover/price/cashback. There comes a time when you have to stop researching a purchase and actually make the purchase. There's no way anyone can cover all (100%) of the bases and eventually one has to conclude one has probably done enough.

I have a habit of continuing to do research after making a purchase and sometimes find a better price afterwards. It can be annoying if I find it cheaper and there's nothing I can do about it, but still I do it. :wall:

On this occasion I thought it would be a simple matter to cancel, as the cover hadn't started yet. It wasn't.

Anyway, I came back to update the thread - it took a couple of firmly written emails, but I got my full refund. :j

Snowy - I appreciate you're not happy about the fee, but you did actually use their services and it sounds like it might be a good idea to keep the membership. :)

I just got stung by this. Ridiculous. Was my fault for joining them as thought it was a good deal (£44 quidco and then £50 gift voucher!). But the Ts and Cs of the voucher says you wont get it if going via cash back sites! Saw this after I signed up in the usual small print...

    So now stuck with them...
Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:
