No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in April

Morning ladies.
Had a very busy day yesterday, went to London for the day, as we live in Yorkshire it was quite a day trip. It wasn't a shopping trip except for taking the kids to Hamleys (twice) and in doing so I passed a huge Molton Brown store (twice) but didn't go in as that was not what we were there for.
Roguey - well done for accepting the 100 day challenge, I think I will give it a go to and today will be counted as day 2.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hi everyone,
Seeing as I'm trying to use a different eyeshadow and lip product everyday I've decided to put a tray together at the start of every week to try and encourage me to use the different things. It will also hopefully make me use things I've barely used or rarely use.
Here's what I've laid out...
September Grocery Challenge £0/£2250 -
I feel like I've hit a wall, nothing is spluttering, and not a single UU so far this month! There was a bit of a surge towards the end of last month so I guess that's why but grrrr it's annoying!
I did list a few bits on Ebay over the weekend so hopefully they might sell. Hope everyone else is doing a bit better *sigh*No buying un-necessary toiletries challenge - Start total: 235. Current total: 273!!0 -
I have been repurposing sanctuary bath bubbles in variouos forms as hand wash. Before this thread they would have just sat around for years but I have realised they are much better as hand wash than bottles at the back of the cupboard - also saved me a few pennies as we seem to go through bucket loads of the stuff even though there is on 2 of us.
Also UU various bars of soap. I'm sure OH eats the stuff as he goes through about a bar a fortnight whereas mine last me forever! On the plus side I do think this means my 36 bars wont last me the lifetime I thought they would!
I have a couple of splutterers but the rest are full and huge!0 -
Oh I have an 8-tab spreadsheet to keep track of my stash, I also have them listed by category so I can sort them when I need to and work out what I have/want to use, then when something is opened it gets cut and pasted into the 'in use' tab, I have seperate tabs for make-up and totals as well.
There's a reason I was called the spreadsheet queen at my last job :rotfl:
FYI, don't be ashamed about putting your list up, here's mine....

Fab idea I'll have to get the laptop in the bathroom and start typing my list up.0 -

*Jaw drops* That's the most *struggles for words to express admiration and awe* EPIC thing I've ever heard of! :T  :rotfl: (You're not just a tiny bit OCD are you, by any chance?!

That is EXACTLY how I was when I started this challenge: I was just thread browsing and saw some of the lists and thought OMG how can anyone ever under any circumstances have that many toiletries?! I had two drawers crammed pack full plus a shoe box full of mouthwash, so I decided to make a list and I was shocked by how much I had. (I started at the very beginning of this challenge and I'm still going strong, so that tells you something
although I think I'm still here cos you lot *points round accusingly* tempted me into buying a OOTW S&G box from Boots and then another box just after Christmas which lasted forever, and some bits are still going!) Seeing as I'm trying to use a different eyeshadow and lip product everyday I've decided to put a tray together at the start of every week to try and encourage me to use the different things. OMG - I just bought that l'Oreal eyeshadow! (Or a very similar shade.) You are a woman of taste!
And here's my confession: I went to ASDA and I availed of the 4 for £10 haircare offer and bought:
2 x Tresemme Blonde Colour Thrive shampoo
1 x Tresemme dry shampoo (can't remember the name)
1 x Tresemme heat barrier (can't remember the name)
I'm down to my last bottle of shampoo (this stuff is currently the HG for me) so I bought 2 to replenish my stocks. I was sorely tempted to buy 4, but my hair is tempremental and there's every chance that it will have gone off this shampoo by the time I get through that much as they are BIG bottles. I've not got much dry shampoo left in stock, so I thought it was worth a bash as I probably wouldn't have tried it if it wasn't on offer and stuck to Baptiste, and I've got about a half bottle of V05 heat barrier left, so that was a case of perfect timing!
Now I have to declare all 4 INs and it makes it look like I've bought loads of stuff, and everything I have bought so far this year has been necessary - honest! :APlease call me 'Pickle'
No More Buying Books: ???
No More Buying DVDs: ???
NMB Toiletries ??? and I've gone back for my Masters at the University of Use Ups!
Proud to be dealing with her debts 1198~

A gift of an IN (swapped Easter gifts with DD & DGC.) A Lacura Shimmering Day Cream. This has been withdrawn apparently, goodness knows why, DD said it was a best-seller. It doesn't have SPF, but there are days when I know I won't be going out much. Very pleased, I've used this before and quite liked it.
GA's, one of the 2 15ml Avon Anew Rejuvenate Revitalising Cream as none of DD's creams have a SPF and she is outdoors quite a bit . Aldi Lacura did have a good one with SPF on special a while back, so they do produce them.
Also GA, Floriography Sweet Pea and Peony hand cream to DD, who loved it, you would never have guessed this was a £land buy. I tried a little dab on her invitation and was very impressed, lovely scent, rubbed in beautifully and absolutely no stickiness.
I do have the Floriography Tea Rose hand cream left, not sure where this one will go, possibly DD for her birthday in August, as she liked the other one so much.
Current splutterer is a giant sized Avon foot cream. I am eking out the really nice shampoo and conditioner I was sent to trial some time ago - they will probably be the next large-ish UUs.
I did try out a product new to me, an Avon Skin so Soft Fast Moisturising Gel. This is a quick drying gel that really cools the skin as it evaporates quickly. This isn't unpleasant, it isn't sticky but it's actually a chilling experience which makes the product definitely one for summer. I won't use it again until the weather is much, much warmer, I actually still felt chilly when I was dressed. The product includes watermint oil and has quite a marine scent.
With the cooling effect and the marine-ish smell it reminded me of a body product that Virgin Vie made, it fizzed and crackled on your skin as you applied it from an aerosol. I do remember also that like much of the range, it was hideously expensive for what it was. No wonder Vie went bust.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
On Friday night I painted my nails with YSL Black Indigo and topped my ring finger nail but OPI's Polka.com.
Just taken it off and replaced it with Urban Decay's Toasted, topped with Urban Decay's Sidecar. Pretty combination
Those colours look gorgeous.Scarlet1982 wrote: »Hi everyone

I've been really good today was so tempted to but the TSV on Q?C.:D I convinced myself that there will be another soon when I actually need it.
Welcome Scarlet. Avoiding the TSV is a great start.
I have TA the Avon Spotlight body lotion. I don't like the sticky feeling it leaves on my skin.
Did put in an Avon order this morning for two the lip stain/gloss combos in the colours I used to own so know that I will like them. :rotfl:Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

2 OUTS for me today:
Trial Elemis Instant Refreshing Gel - got this free with a spa day goody bag years ago. I'm not sure I got the point in this gel really, so will not be buying the full size sample.
Jan De Vries relaxation flower remedy. Not a toiletry in the strictest sense, but I store it all the the same place. Probably won't buy again, as it wasn't a necessity.
Decided to ask the Dr for an allergy test today after McCulloch's suggestion, and had a really rude receptionist tell me I was a waste of an appointment! I've had whatever this is for 4 years, and now I know it's an allergic reaction, it's wrong of me to want to find out what I'm allergic to... Not very amused!0
