You shouldn't have been listening in. It's their decision , not yours. Anyway like some above said , you can just charge it overnight. This is just like the time on an iPod forum someone said their teenage neighbour kept dropping her iPod so the poster asked the forums if he should steal it to prevent it from damage :S
