3 dogs your posts are always so caring.

You must be relieved that the funeral is relatively quickly. It's such a difficult time isn't it. Thinking of you:A

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone for your thoughts and wishes for DS and I over the past few days, it's more than we got in RL :( just more hassle from some people who are more interested in trying to ease their guilt over how they treated DH but I told them to tell someone who cared because I wasn't going to give them the response that they wanted.

It's been hard for us both, DS has just had a big break down and is cuddled up to me at the moment going through old photos. I don't know what else to do with him, he was fine until this afternoon but I couldn't calm him down earlier so we both just sat and cried, I felt so helpless.

You may have felt helpless but you was definitely not. You were helpful for your DS - being able to express how he was feeling and lucky having you there sharing his emotions and most importantly, listening to him. Your DS knows that you feel the same way about your DH. I think that you are doing and being everything for your son. You should be proud of yourself.:A

If I wasn't in bed I would go and take a photo of some pickled shallots from 2 years ago. A huge jar which we have just opened. They are deliciously strong. I've never added spices because it makes them even stronger I think:)

that's what he's after:rotfl::rotfl: he wants eye wateringly strong pickled onions. I like the way we pickle them now but he wants them like his mums.....in his words they used to strip a layer off your tongue  whatever floats your boat I suppose....:rotfl:

I don't think he'll be on it anytime soon without someone holding onto to him TM...he can't even get on it without help:o I am hoping he will eventually manage to stop saying wheeeeeee the whole time he on it tho :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

My DD was quite late riding a two wheeler, getting on for 8, but then she just learnt really quickly. She had tried at various times in the past but would never give it a really good go then all of a sudden woosh she was off and never looked back. Waiting for the local velodrome to phone with a place for her in one of their classes as she wants to try track cycling.

    FC,

I was thinking about your little one earlier and his bike:)

Would it help for him to do some of those exercises where you lie on the floor and pedal in the air. You could put some pressure on his feet to aid his movement and it might get him used to the circular movement.

Probably a silly thought but you could maybe turn it into a game:)

not silly at all. He has a range of exercises to go through from OT along those lines.

The problem is he has sensory impairment. It's a hard thing to explain but basically when a part of our bodies touch something we get sensory feedback that lets our brain know that we've touched something or that when we walk our foot has touched the floor and it's time for the other leg to move. We're not acutely aware if it because it's part of normal development. His awkward movement, lack of co-ordination, balance etc are because his senses don't send the messages to his brain to let them know that's he's made contact and it's time to make the next step in the sequence.

But yes, all those sorts of exercises do help....and if he does practise certain things enough, he can make a degree of improvement.

sorry to get so technical and long winded :o there's not a short way to explain it

One of my pupils had courses through the OT - swimming, trampolining, and a bike riding course. Perhaps you should ask if there are any available for your son.

Thats great! It's a fantastic sport and a great way to keep fit. If she's good at it she should go for it. Im not a cycler ( is that even a word :o) myself. My other 2 kids like their bikes and my OH was a keen cyclist before he got Ill
