Hardys Chardonnay semillon and banrock station Chardonnay are nice for their price

Continuing my exploration of the very cheapest Aldi wines (see post 9).

The Claret has gone up to £3.99 but still good value.

This week I tried the Australian White at £3.49 - abit sweet for me and won't buy again.

I also tried the Italian Red at £2.99 which is OK and I shall buy again.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to get cheap decent whites from Mr T or Aldi but plenty of reds.

I drink Cambalala Chenin Blanc & Cambalala Sauvingnon Blanc from Aldi. Both are £3.99 and are very crisp and dry. Recommended.

Last night when I was buying a few bottles there was a man behind me in the queue from the local wine club who said that Aldi's wine consistently comes top in their taste tests

Yes, I love the Hardy's but it is no cheaper than £5.49 when on offer and I am trying out cheaper wines as I said.

Ah, a very inferior species I find!
  • What about Lidl?

I too am interested in good wine bargins up to about £7. I want flavour - something that makes me say 'ohhh'

I so wish that alcoholic content wasn't so high - this has inceased over the years so a red can nearly equal a sherry

When I was younger 11 ish wa the norm - now 13 + is and I wonder if the alcahol actually takes over the 'flavour'
