We are in a "just in time" society, where you expect to have things on demand.
So, I was out and about today and overheard lots of people looking for Easter Eggs.
I guess the shops don't want the business.
They'll be whingeing about the unexpectedly poor sales, no doubt.
Maybe they should blame their stock control policies instead.0 -
Lot's of people rummaging through shelves of empty boxes at Tesco earlier today looking for the last Lindt chocolate bunny. I decided daughter didn't need a chocolate egg (well, she is 20!).loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0

All this faff for some chocolate shaped like an egg, I bet you get more choc for you money in bar form. Its hardly essential if they don't get an Easter egg.0

Yep they have been for sale since the new year, but sadly the food shop meant that I had to wait until this week for the £10 voucher (morries) to use for my eggs - haha not a lot left on thursday, so mine have got a small egg each and some sweets.
As they are all over 21 they can like it or buy their own.
Same at work though, was surprised at the number of customers moaning how all the shops had sold out.

Reckon shops under ordered after poor Christmas sales. Tesco looked like a plague of locusts had come through on Friday night. Well that and bad weather makes people want to stay in all weekend.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

People do panic buy because the supermarkets are closed for a day.If only the great British public could be a little more organised and plan ahead.0

You've missed a major business principle there if they over order on Easter eggs and have some left now they're stuffed!
Easter eggs are always the sort of thing you want to sell out of or you risk a loss due to heavy discounting to get rid of the things.
The ones who ran out yesterday/today got it right, they won't be whinging about unexpectedly poor sales, they'll be happy with their foresight and good profit margins!Maybe they should blame their stock control policies instead.
Maybe you should learn more about how to run a retail business rather than assuming!0 -
Most ran out early last week, so you could say they underestimated sales. However i did note in my local shop that where the eggs should have been, now contained toys. Nothing like guilting people into buying a more expensive gift lol0

I got my main eggs a while before, but needed one for my nephew. Only £4 double decker eggs left or assorted girl or bunny ones.
Yep got him a bar of chocollate (he's 21)!Back on the trains again!0 -

It's not nearly as simple as you seem to think.
It's a complex equation based on full price profit margin, reduced profit margin (or loss) on remainders, and the probability of running out at various times.
For example, it's far better to lose £10 on remaindered stock than lose the profit on several dozen eggs because you run out.
The most successful retailers are the ones who manage to get this difficult balance correct.Maybe you should learn more about how to run a retail business rather than assuming!
Maybe you should learn more about how to run a retail business before giving others lessons based on an overly simplistic of the logic involved. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0
