Completely agree. I take photos of all the important receipts and upload them to Evernote servers.
    Good idea!

Didn't you know....' Its always somebody elses fault'

Good idea about taking the photo there. I always keep boxes for the guarantee period, they go in the loft or garage with the receipt inside.
So if I need it I know exactly where it is every time.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Your name's not Derek and you don't work for HMV by any chance? You sound just like him. He refused me a return when I went back exactly 2 weeks to the day I bought something. He counted out the days and said 14 days was only up to the day before so I was too late! Just my luck to get a mathematician.

Couldn't you work out when the 14 days were up ? Or did you need some help ?

Good job Derek could work it out or he might have been in trouble with his boss !

Quite - though, of course, he ran out of fingers and had to take his socks & shoes off to complete the calculation.

But how do you know which receipts are important? £20 spent on a few groceries and a toothbrush wouldn't flag up to many folk as important...
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

The ones for expensive things and those with long guarantees.

Of course, Sodde's Law dictates that these then won't go wrong, only the things whose receipts you didn't keep.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

Oh well it's only a lousy tenner. You do need proof of purchase under the legislation, that doesn't have to be a receipt.

The OP would have known that they'd bought an electric toothbrush with their shopping wouldn't they ? Therefore, put the receipt somewhere safe in case it's needed. It's not rocket science.
  • Having used to work for DSG, there is a reason companies like those ask for your "personal details" (the sort that people get infuriated over giving)...

I have processed many a refund/exchange where no receipt was available, by looking up the transaction on the database.

I've seen many suggestions to take photos/scans of receipts - lots easier now with the advent of smartphones...
