Central heating installation grants - please help!

Hi all.
Hope you can help. My husband and I managed to buy our first house last year after 8 years together. It has taken all our money and the house needs a lot of work throughout.
The house has no heating except an open fire in the lounge. We only have an ancient immersion tank in the main bedroom. The windows are drafty and some you can't or daren't open. As you can appreciate this winter has been hideous.
Problem: we both work full time and receive no benefits of any kind. There is no way we can afford to install central heating in the foreseeable future (unless we win lottery!)
Can we get any financial assistance to get it installed? Does anyone have any advice on what we could do? Please help!
Many thanks all!

You've missed the boat for Warm Front: applications closed on 13/1/13.
You could look at the Green Deal, but that is not a grant scheme, but a loan.
Unless there are any local schemes available, you are looking at borrowing the money in the form of a personal loan or similar.
The cheapest (to buy, not to run) form of heating for you at the moment will be some bargain basement convectors. No free lunch, and no free laptop
