Human not recording complete programme

We have a Humax box FOXSAT-HDR. This is connected to a dish in the garden for free to air channels. The box is under two years old.
It has untill recently rarely been used to record TV programmes, only being used to watch TV. we like the box as it has a good EPG and is easy to use.
Recently it has been used to record a lot of programmes mainly on ITV3+1. This is normally set to record after midnight so that it does not interfere with normal viewing in the evening.
The recording is set using the EPG and allows a choice of recording a single programme or the series.
It is now clear that a number of programmes are not recorded completely, if only missing a little.
For example recently a 3 episode called Unforgiven was recorded over three nights. The result showed a run time of 60 minutes. However the 60 minutes had plenty of spare adverts etc at the beginning but each recording ended about 20 seconds before the credits.
Also being recorded is Crime and punishment and this also was suffering the same fault but has suddenly without any changes by me now has a run time of 65 minutes (before 60minutes) which means the entire programme is available to see. I wonder wether this is to do with the folloing programme not being set to record.
Some of the programmes I am recording run after each other so they can only record the (say) 60 minutes of the run time but it appears they start slightly too early and then stop before the programmes end.
I can not see anywhere in the manual how to record longer to ensure we capture the end of a programme. Or the better solution of starting slightly later by perhaps 30 seconds.
Is there something I can do.
Thanks for any help.

You can extend the 'overlap' time, study the manual again. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Ive got the freeview version of the humax and find that it also does not record the whole programme sometimes. I don't know if the op's has a similar feature but when I select the programme guide, I have the option of choosing the yellow button to get the 'schedule' function. What this does is allow you to edit the start and end time of each programme that has been set. I just usually add 5 minutes to the end and this solves the problem. I would not be surprised if you could do this with a freesat box too.0

Whilst the DVR gets the blame, the fault lies with the broadcaster for starting late. Either complain to them, or add additional time to the end of the show (called 'padding') to get those extra minutes to catch the end of a late starting show!0

If you report your own post you may get a friendly Board Guide to edit the title.
Op can edit their own title. Just choose Edit / Advanced editYou can extend the 'overlap' time, study the manual again.
I've found you can lose as much as you gain.
I started with the timer set to Auto and found I occasionally missed endings like the op. Messed around with the recording settings adding varying amounts to the start and end but ended up missing even more as when programmes were delayed the recording still started from the timer & not the broadcast signal.
In the end I went back to Auto settings and on the odd occasion that I miss something I've found it on one of the catch-up services or YouTube. Failing that most stuff, especially on the lower channels such as ITV3, seems to be endlessly repeated these days. So on the rare occasion I can't pick up the pieces via catch-up I just record it again next time it's broadcast.0 -

Not a time limit but if a thread is locked you can no longer edit posts within it.0 -
Thanks everyone.
I went in to settings and found I could add up to 5 minutes to the beginning and end of a recording.
I have set it to add 1 minute at the start and 5 at the end.
Will now wait to see what happens. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0
