Replacing the taps when they're round the back

What a stupid design for a bath. It isn't even comfortable enough to lie down in."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

No but presumably there will be a bath in the way of the taps.
I have a mixer tap in my kitchen but its not fitted with flexi hoses to the tap. From the base off the tap it has 2 straight stainless steal pipes that fit to the copper pipe one for hot, one for cold. So thats why i said take the front panel off so you can get some idea how it is connected to the telephone type taps come shower. If i could i would, but i cannot so i wont, but maybe one day i will.0 -
Ah, OK. The panel is masticked to the lino and around the edge so taking it off will cause some damage. I'll ponder on it for a short while.
Besides, I might win the Euromillions tonight then it will become someone else's problem."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -

I think taking that front panel will hopefully answer some of your questions and give you a better idea what you are dealing with.
Also you might find the job is a relative easey one. Although there is always the flip side of the coin that its gonna be a nightmare to sort.
As for the damage i hope it would be minimal as long as you are carefull. You can buy a tube of mastic for as little £1.
Good luck on the Euromillions. If i could i would, but i cannot so i wont, but maybe one day i will.0 -

Ok I'll play along, would you like to explain how this might be a relativly easy one unless the OP can find a spare part ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Oh good.
I would suggest more information/investigation is needed before a final diagnosis/suggestion is offered. If i could i would, but i cannot so i wont, but maybe one day i will.0 -

two options & only two
get a replacement divertor for the taps if availible, meaning taps/shower will prob work, leaving gold taps that are tarnised & not looking very good, which the OP doesn't like
replace the taps which will involve removing the bathI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
