Hope someone can advise me.
We have the above condensing boiler fitted about 5 years ago. We have always had to re-pressurise it once or twice a year but now we are doing it daily!
Background.
We have boiler and pipe cover with Npower Heat Team. Never had a problem with them. They turn up and service the boiler and go away for another year.
Had the annual service a couple of weeks ago and mentioned that the system was loosing pressure every 5 or 6 days. I asked the heating engineer if it could be the expansion tank and he said 'no - its fine - you must have a leak somewhere'.
I had been on t'interweb and followed several bits of advice about where to check. I have checked all the radiators cold and hot (ouch). Only this morning me and DH ran round just as the heating kicked in (after re-pressurising it) - not a damp bit on any of the radiators.
Google'ing said to tie a poly bag onto the expansion drain pipe outside. Did that and within an hour there was quite a bit of water in there - just been out and brought it in - since 8am today (10.5hrs) 100mls has gathered in there.
Now I am not DIY enough to check the expansion tank pressure or to faff with teknikul stuff but I do know about the valve that can stick (good old aunty google).
My question to you is when the heat team man turns up am I on the right track with what could be the problem?
I just feel I need some ammunition when patronising twerp comes round.

what do you pressurise the boiler to when you top it up ?
what happens to the pressure gauge when you run the heating ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
pressured to 1.5 - not seen what it goes up to - I feel sure we will have to do it again in the morning so I will get DH to keep an eye on it while it is heating up and report back tomorrow.
Thanks.Mags - who loves shopping0 -
1.0 bar 1.5 is too high, you also pressurise it without the boiler working, yes please report back what the gauge goes upto when the heating is onI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Possibly the PRV is not seating properly, thus allowing water to continually pass to the overflow pipe. Simple to check, simple part to replace, and the RGI was either clueless, or trying to avoid doing the repair.
If you have cover for the whole CH system ('pipe'), then it's up them to find and sort any leaks! No free lunch, and no free laptop

the blooming thing hasn't gone off since! Went off 3 times in 2 days and now has been happy since I booked for the engineer to come out! I will keep an eye on it and report back to you all.
