Could you post details of the lingering deal or a PM would be great?
Hmmmm... profit is difficult at present; there is just one lingering deal where it is still possble to break even and end up with a reasonable bundle. Then again - same thing happened this time last year; then some excellent (profitable) deals with decent bundles and better phones appeared for about five months.

You catch them when they're there - not when you need them. Although I'm well down on my usual fleet for personal use, I have thus managed to still have 6 contracts running. Just waiting to grab as many deals as I can when they reappear (and they will).
  • thanks grumbler & mobile junkie. sorry but i didnt realise anyone had replied as i thought i would get an email.
ovivo sounds like a good deal. but i usually have/need 400+ mins. best i can seem to find work out about £9/10 pm. thought i found better but the links never exist. what are the best search sites now? ive only used 2000 mobile deals before.

I scour three or four different sites every day. However, while they often display similar deals many don't actually exist.

Recently I've grabbed two profitable deals which at least take me back up to six contracts (having ended two others recently).

Search on google for mobile phone comparison sites; some appear similar and may be using the same software. When you find some you like save them in "favourites". I use them to search for the best deals when one of my people wants a specific phone or bundle - but you aren't likley to find a decent bundle without having to actually pay a few punds (at least) after cashback.

Mobilejunkie, how many contracts have you gone through if you are "down to 6" running at one time. Do you not use some of the contracts and only take them out for the profit? I know its a lot harder now then a few years ago.

I only ever take a contract out if I will make a decent profit. Through the combination of the right deals being available and some limits on how many I could order from various dealers/networks the most I've ever had running at the same time was about 11. If the deals were good enough I would grab as many as I could. I am very organised, using one contract all the time and the others in rotation according to bundle dates and what I use them for. I never go over my allowances on any given contract, never incur costs on landline calls and have found numerous unexpected benefits fairly regularly. For example, one contract has low minutes but I keep that in the smartphone for occasional internet access when out and about. My T-Mobile contracts allow me to call any 08 numbers as part of my allowance. O2 at one time counted picture messages as four bundle texts. I usually have at least two of the phones with me so batteries running out is not a problem and when they happen to be on different networks I am unlikely to be stranded with no signal when I need it.

In any case, I've being doing all this for about 7 or 8 years and it's rather enjoyable to know that THEY are paying ME for all the benefits they bestow on me. I actually feel sorry for them on occasion; I have cost them thousands (not just my own contracts but all those I watch over for other people) and have even extracted extra money from them when others didn't (e.g. when networks increased prices I ensured the cashback did the same - though that is no longer possible).

I think it's a great game provided you know exactly what you're doing, cover yourself every step of the way and keep your eye on the ball(s - there are many at any given time!). That also means using all the advantages you have in the situation - such as claiming immediately and following up the moment the dealers fail to fulfil their side of the contract. Experience also is a huge advantage, but having originally researched cashback dealers, terms and conditions, custom and practise etc. for perhaps a year before taking out a mobile contract of any kind I already knew far more than most before I even began my cashback career. After all - I don't part with my money lightly, even when I am told I will get it back. I wanted to be quite sure of that beforehand. The rest is history - though long may it continue, despite arid times!
