Part Worn Tyres - nick in the sidewall

So, I took it back to the place today. First guy (who wasnt there the other day) came over took a look and said, yep, well swap it.
Then the guy who i dealt with the other day came over, and i showed him. I waited to see if he would spot it himself. After five or six seconds, I pointed it out to him. He said, oh that must be new cause it wasnt there the other day. I would ahve seen it and wouldnt have sold it like that. I said, well, its easy to miss, you didnt spot it yourself just now. I was definately not new, I only drove home and back here. You sold it to me like that. He then mumbled and said, nah, I would have seen it.
At this point, I almost lost it, cause from my point of view the guy didnt do his job properly, and sold me a tyre with a potentially dangerous defect. But i wanted to make sure he did the job properly, so i just said nothing and then he showed me some other tyres and swapped it for me.
I find it hard not to speak my mind, cause im like that and had a right to be peeved. I can accept mistakes happen, and was really good about it, but its hard to keep your cool when someone wont take responsibility for a serious mistake. Even harder when they blame you for it.
Still, sorted now, so i guess im happy with that.0 -
Thanks for the update. Regardless of whether or not it was immediately dangerous in the way some were claiming (going by the photos it wasn't), it would likely have led to problems later as damp etc got to work, so good outcome0

yes, a good outcome. Both guys said they wouldnt have sold it like that if they had seen it like that. I think the noise i was getting has gone too, so that further suggests there was some internal damage that couldnt be seen in that tyre. I guess that goes to show that it was better scrapped and not worth the risk, so at least I have piece of mind when I drive to see relatives tomorrow on the motorway!0
