Smartphone for £150 or less but not online
Options
I was given some Westfield vouchers for £150 a year ago. I've been too unwell or too short of time to spend it and these vouchers run out in 2 weeks time
I just wanted a little advice or few ideas to check out. Obviously I'll be paying over-the-odds as cashback and so on will be out of the question as I can only spend these vouchers in-store.
I know Westfield's (two of them) have between them the main 4 mobile network suppliers, a CPW and a P4U.
Ideally I'm looking at buying the handset outright as I have poor credit rating and also only have 02/Giffgaff/Talkmobile as options due to my area.
I'd be looking primarily for a mobile for internet use (hence Giffgaff) so battery power, a decent upload speed and if possible a decent sized screen...
I did like the look of the S3 mini but heard the S2 is better- I preferred the S3 mini though- less brutal and looked better but is out of my range price wise.
Loved the HTC range but the battery power is dire apparently.
Nokia Windows phones I've never tried before but wasn't sure if they were better then the Samsung & Sony just seem to get "average" to "poor" unless your willing to part with £500+
All in all a bit confusing!
I was hoping that between now and 2 weeks away the handset prices will drop as it's Easter and also April and new handsets like the S4 are just coming out and I'll be able to pick up a deal - is it worth holding out till the 12th April?

I suggest Phones 4 U or Carphone Warehouse as you will probably get an unlocked phone but buy a PAYG phone nominally for o2.
Personally I would look at the Nokia 620 which is around your budget and I like Nokia Windows phones against similarly priced Android phones.
You may prefer Android, see what they have.0 -
Windows operating system is brilliant if you are looking for simplicity - it looks different to the likes of Sony and Samsung but don't let that put you off.
The Android OS (Sony and Samsung use this) is very popular and if you're looking for apps to download then this is where you should look - and if you like Google Maps this is a bonus. The S3 Mini to my knowledge is around £250 anyway so would be a bit above your budget.
If you don't want to spend more than £150 then look at the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, the Sony Xperia J and the Nokia 620 and the Nokia 520.
The Windows OS and Android are both great OS's - the bottom line would be:
If you want a huge app store for games (Angry Birds, Temple Run 2 etc) then Samsung/Sony are the way to go.
If you want a phone that is simple to use has a lot of key features then consider Windows.0 -

This is a possibility but I wouldn't expect the handsets to drop drastically - although the S4 is coming out, people will still find a home for the S3, S3 Mini etc.
I work for a telephony company (so this is what I'd advise a customer) and a massive nerd 8-)0 -
So the price wont drop that much?
Oh well- I'd hoped it would! I could add a little of my own money but it really would be a little (as in £10 or £20). I obviously can't hold off another month as I had been so I've got to make my mind up!
I am not into gaming at all, but do like to use apps (I have an ipod touch, 4th generation which works like the iphone 4). I think I'd opt for android just because there seem to be more available in terms of updates and apps available from what I've briefly read about 6 months ago, but not been keeping up so correct me if I'm wrong on that!
I just wondered how the ace2 compares to the iphone4- has anyone any experience of both?.
Also, does anyone know if android phones have a longer lasting battery compared to Windows phones? I know it would depend on what type but bare in mind I'm always going to opt for the model which offers the most I can get for £150, so if faced with the ace and the ace2 I'd opt for the ace2, if faced with the Nokia 520 and the 620, I'd opt for the 620.0 -

Experience would be mainly about differences between iOs and Android, not between the phones.
All smartphones are power-hungry, but see the link above.
Thanks,
Just wondering if anyone does have any info on the differences which aren't android vs ios. I get that these are the only links on review sites, I was more asking if anyone on the forums here had tried either, just wanted to know if by getting an Ace2 it would be a massive step down from an ipod4 (which is equivalent to an iphone4).0 -
