Just heard from a E2Save CS Rep when I can called them to do a price match on the 12 months free line rental deals on O2 that they'll no longer match OSPS as they have changed their T&C over the weekend.

Apparently failing to submit a claim will make all future claims void.

Could anyone else confirm this?

Many thanks in advance

OSPS have only changed their T&Cs for their own price match deals - they have a range of 12 months free deals on O2 with recent handsets. It seems that they are trying to match Cool New mobile / Phone Box Direct and have thus decided that if you want a similar deal from them they will only do it if you are prepared to be held to similar cashback claims rules as well.

The funny thing is....neither PBD nor CNM actually have any O2 cashback deals which give you 12 months free - obviously OSPS are matching their cheapest Vodafone deals with similar O2 ones (as OSPS no longer sells Vodafone since Vodafone pulled their contract business from Carphone Warehouse).

HOWEVER...as far as I'm aware, OSPS's original terms still apply to all other deals so, if you were trying to get E2Save to match OSPS on their 12 months free offerings, the E2Save rep was technically correct in his assessment.

Clearly, Carphone Warehouse is trialling this type of price match with OSPS only to see how it goes. If it seems to work, no doubt they will extend it across other outlets such as E2Save and possibly The Phone Spot...watch this space...

I'm currently trying to work out how to include these price match deals on my site. As each retailer is associated with a set of terms AND a range of additional costs (such as a credit check fee) this latest turn of events has broken my database design.

surely osps trying to have different cashback t&c for different contracts is going to cause a hell of a lot of confusion... there i was thinking osps had got past this stage especially with the voucher/certificate saga.

Yup...you're not wrong there g33za. One of the issues that I'm wrestling with is whether or not I can flag this important issue up with the relevant contracts if I add them to my database - if there's one thing I try to do with my site it's make sure that people enter these arrangements with their eyes open and this turn of events certainly hasn't helped that aim.

no one should buy this idea of osps. if they succeeded with this strategy, they might not offer anymore similar good deals within their normal terms.

besides, their price match offer promo is a bit joke to me. it’s all clearance phones. so what are they price-matching for? which retailer? based on their stricter t&c's, could it be cnm or pbd who offers brand new phones?

I think you're quite right and I'd like to second you with the fact that if anyone buys from them, they'll suceed and roll out across other outlets like e2save!

I have searched and haven't found any matching sites offering these deals they classify as 'price matched'.....

So your guess is as good as mine!

a friend of mine got one of these phones last week over the phone before they were available on the website.
they even charged him for postage

either way the terms seem to be almost a cut and paste job from pbd and the like,
go to the website and you will see the terms are different to the rest of the phones.

The difference here is these deals are run through CPW O2. Whats interesting is that when you use their online facility for your account, they no longer send you paper bills, yet OSPS terms are to send originals. I wonder what their stance would be on that.

my workmate took this offer. interestingly, on her receipt it says on the contract taken: "osps-pbd" (so its either they are price-matching pbd deals/terms or they are slowly affiliating with them), but a cpw direct debit has been set-up on her bank acct.
